    Canucks have 4 games left. They're currently the 4th worst team. They cant get more than 2 points or else they'll end up 6-10th.

    Flames have 3 games left. They're currently 10th, but they could fall to 11th or 12th with some wins, or if they lose every game in regulation, and Canucks get at least a point from Oilers, Flames wind up 9th.
    So they've decided to play within the rules? Cool, cool, cool...

      1 more day before the regular season is finally over.

      Canucks win, they wind up with the 9th spot in the lottery. Regulation loss and they get 8th spot.

      Flames lose, they wind up in the 10th spot, if they win they are 12th.

        And because the Canucks or Flames didnt score 30+ goals in today's game, Matthews wins the Rocket!
