3 guys in that game had a hat trick! 2 on the hometown Wild in the same period. Do people even have hats left? Someone definitely owned a hat for all of 10 minutes after buying a new one and then threw that on the ice too.

In one of those wild Flames/Kings playoff games in the early 90s, 3 LA players (Taylor, Granato, Sandstrom) each finished off a hat trick in the 3rd period.

BTW check out the Wild's 5th goal today. (35 seconds in)

          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Y3Hr9yn5amg?si=toT0H00Os_-3RnVM&amp;start=33" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Apparently the ref never lost sight of the puck during that 15 second scramble.
          I'm envious; I want x-ray vision too!

The Wild are pure chaos this year. A TD and PAT in the 3rd period lol

Leafs somehow going 5-0 without Rielly is such a Leaf thing to happen

                Violence pays

But seriously, I thought the hoopla over that was so over the top from every angle. Dude was an ******* for the slap shot and deserved a little face wash but it went a bit extra. Should’ve been a standard scrum we see all the time but Rielly’s stick got him a bit high one way or another.

Obviously the NHL’s wheel of Justice is completely random and seemed to just make the discourse over the situation worse.

It must be prime hockey season!

The league claims the only issue was the point of contact with it and its "only" 5 games because Rielly is a 1st time offender.

If it was another team it's probably 2 or 3 at most. There's always a x2 penalty for being a Leaf. Leafs have been suspended more than any team (maybe 2nd or 3rd at worst) the last decade.

So how can a team who is judged as being soft somehow also be the "dirtiest players in the game"?

An even more Leaf thing to happen is Toronto starts losing games as soon as Rielly returns, leading to breathless "Maybe Rielly has been the problem all along??" takes from TSN/Sportsnet and Reddit dummies (conveniently ignoring that the toughest opponents during the 5-game win streak were the Blues and Flyers, whereas the Leafs face Vegas, Colorado, Boston, and the Rangers in 6 of their next 8 games).

I fully expect a loss tonight. 2nd of a back to back, and 3rd game in a 3rd diff city in 4 nights, it's bound to happen.

I saw Detroit snap a 10 game losing streak to Colorado today. Graphic said it was the first Detroit win over Colorado in 7 years. That can't be right. Man, I miss when that matchup mattered, that used to be must watch TV

Agreed. The problem was virtually every other matchup was must avoid TV in those days.

Looking at the standings, I'm intrigued by the real possibility of Wings vs Rangers in the 1st round. The last time they faced each other in the postseason was the 1950 Stanley Cup Final (!!), which seems unbelievable.

Yeah hard to believe, although that was right around the time that the Wings had about a 30-40 year stretch during which time they were more irrelevant than the Coyotes.
