And that 68 friday was impressive ill admit, but take into account she had 0 pressure on her as her day was basically over before she started(unless she shot -7 which wwas NOT going to happen), and it was the 2nd lowest scoring day of the tourney. Oh and did i forget to mention that this was her HOME COURSE! if you cant post a round of 2 under at your home course every once in awhile then you shouldnt be allowed on the pga tour (unless of course your home course is INCREDIBLY difficult). being at your home course should probably knock off a few storked from your score. i know myself that i would play people who are better than me skillwise at my home course and feel confident that i could beat them, people who anywhere else would destroy me

Re: Wie gets cut again
There's some sort of perception around here that there is a great advantage to playing on your home course in golf. This isn't basketball or football. With the quality of caddies and preparation that tour pros have it just doesn't matter much if at all.Comment

Re: Wie gets cut again
Originally posted by mike06i agree somewhat, its not like she had a huge advantage, but it is definately an advantage in golf. whoever stated before that it wasnt has ovbiously never played the game or is completely ignorant on the topic. how can playing on your home course NOT be an advantage, it just makes no sense...
Edit - Oh, and how do you feel about the experience returning competitors have at Wailae? A number of tour pros play that course every year. Do you really think they know it any less well than does Wie?Comment

You don't know me, you don't know how much golf I play, and you don't know how good I am at the game. All you know is the position I've stated on the subject and the reasons that I've given for that position. Since you choose not to address those points but rather to attack me personally I can't come to any other conclusion other than that your position is backed up by little more than a vague notion in the back of your head that tells you I'm wrong. "No, that can't be right, it's illogical! This poster doesn't know what he's talking about!" Thanks Spock. There are benefits to playing on your home course the same way that there are negatives. Since I can assume you pretty much have a grasp of the value of the benefits I'll stick with portraying the negatives. The primary being that because the course is set up differently than usual it's easy to be tricked into playing shots that you're used to instead of ones that are correct for the setup. Maybe you need a full evaluation of the benefits vs. the disadvantages but the fact of the matter is that whatever benefit she does have on her home course is really negligable in the grander scheme of things. Now whether or not this makes sense to you really shouldn't have an effect on your opinion of my knowledge of golf, experience, or skill level. And yet for some reason it does. That my friend, does not make any sense.

but im just making my point there definately is an advantage to playing your home course, no ifs and or buts about it. the setup really isnt much different, they may move the tees back and dry out the greens a bit but thats usually about it, and im sure she practices from odd tee positions anyways it would make sense to do so. but yeah i know what your saying, all of the pros know the course pretty well just from the week of practice and the caddies evaluation of EVERYTHING about the course. but there definately is an advantage when you know how the rough plays in all areas, how the bunkers play at different times, subtle breaks in the green that others may not be sure of, deceptive wind gusts in certain areas etc. im not saying its a big advantage like you should always win when you play your home course but it definately helps you cant deny that...Last edited by mike06; 01-18-2006, 05:42 PM.Comment
