Today's daily had the grid activated, not sure about the four round tournament. I was still messing up lol.

I believe the 4 rounder had the grid off.

So basically in the CC we have a daily tourney and also a weekly 4 round tourney? Is that about the gist of the whole thing? Anything else we can do in it?

If I'm not mistaken just about anything you do in Tiger in any game mode will add to your points in the CC. CC standings aren't based off your finish in CC tourneys but your accumulation of points throughout the week.
