LIV is not attracting much crowd for this event, and read they're selling tickets for only $1 at this time.

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
I think the PGA made a bad move suspending the guys who joined LIV. I can't see a way out of this mess maybe some tour events have to go.
So if LIV goes to 72 holes so the players gets world ranking points that should go a long way towards legitimizing the LIV tour. I don't know if the lack of a cut after 36 gives the players enough pressure to get ready for major events. This is a real mess.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
I'm not sure what else they could have done... next year, it's 14 LIV events. Add the 4 Majors, it's 18 weeks of golf. Then there's a minimum of 15 PGA tournaments every season to retain their PGA card. Year after that, it will probably be even more than 14 LIV events. Most of those guys barely played 20 PGA events a year + the Majors in the past.Comment

....aaaannnnd, here come the lawsuits. No matter what happens, the lawyers will definitely win.
This is all so needlessly ugly and contentious. The brinksmanship has gone way too far and now there's no sane path back to some reasonable co-existence. It's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.
On the plus side, a real-life golf soap opera to follow isn't all bad.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
Norman is talking about his Women tour too, the LPGA has no choice but try to work together with LIV. If not, they will totally get destroyed. EA is probably following that closely, they have a partnership with the LPGA for their game.Comment

Will the Saudis allow the women to show their face while playing or no?

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
For the events in Saudi Arabia they'd probably have to wear long pants and long sleeves, I'm assuming. The irony of them making more money than the LPGA but then having to do that is kind of crazy.Comment

It's all about sportwashing so... probably dressed like at any other golf tournament, to show LIV and the Saudis are outstanding citizens of the world with no human right issues, not scary mfer as Phil once called them.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
The Saudis already sponsor a women's tournament, and it has been indistinguishable from the regular LPGA events to my knowledge (maybe TonyJ can confirm...).
A LIV Women's Tour would collapse the LPGA overnight. Honestly, the LPGA doesn't have nearly the cultural or historical cache that the men's tour does, and literally every single player on the LPGA would leave tomorrow if offered a fraction of what LIV is offering the men.
It was obvious from the beginning that the LPGA was by far the most vulnerable to a LIV-like competitor. Here we are.Comment

I have to agree with this, LPGA doesn’t have near the status at the tour. Similar to NBA vs WNBA.
