I really do like the format for the playoffs with the aggregate lead going into the Championship for the leader.

But, and I know it's a double edged sword, I HATE how low the scores look going into the weekend. I would rather they started with the leader at even and those behind him start above par rather than the other way around.

I don't love the playoff format but I think it's slightly better than what they had before (where someone wins the Tour Championship and a different guy wins the FedEx Cup).

I agree 100% that the leader should start at even. It makes it hard to tell how hard East Lake is playing in relation to other courses on tour. When they go -21 or whatever, it makes it seem like they're playing my local muni for the tour championship.

I agree with this. The golf - on the whole - over the weekend was not good. Maybe the course was hard? Either way, it was not exactly a thrilling display of top-flight golf (at least it didn't look that way on TV). It seemed like a 'whoever plays the least poor golf' kind of tournament, which isn't what you want in the grand finale to the season. It certainly didn't seem like anyone went out and won it with their stellar play.

I dunno, the playoff format still has a long way to go IMO...

I should have been more specific.

I was talking about the final hole where both guys hit pretty poor shots.

Scheffler was all over the place all day though. The start of his final round was like watching a car crash.

Thanks for the link/laugh. I can't believe this kind of thing happens. I mean, I guess I can believe it, but it's hard to understand how anyone would think they could get away with it. You're literally playing in the same group with your competition...you really think they aren't going to notice stuff like that?

Ok, back to real golf...I wonder what 4 additional events the PGA Tour will add to its "elevated" list next year. The top 20 players in the Player Impact Program will be required to play the elevated events, as well as 3 other PGA Tour events during the season.

The 13 elevated events will be the following: the three FedEx Cup Playoffs events (FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship and Tour Championship), Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Memorial Tournament, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, Sentry Tournament of Champions, and The Players, with the 4 yet-to-be-determined ones.

I am curious to see which remaining events get "promoted"...The WM Phoenix Open? The Honda Classic? Perhaps the RBC Canadian Open, as it's a national championship? Maybe The Heritage at Harbour Town? The Travelers Championship?

It does sound like they may cycle thru the 4 remaining elevated events every year, making it basically a rotation. Would be fun to see a really strong field at events like the John Deere Classic, which are usually skipped by the top players.

The reason the PGA wanted their Tour Championship done in August, they didn't it to go against the NFL and College football.
