Oh Im sure Rory and Tiger were compensated.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
Seemed like a smart idea to take the money and run. The guys that didn't could never be compensated enough for their so called loyalty to the PGA Tour.Comment

Thinking about Will Zalatoris the most.
Turned down going from wealthy to generational wealth and now we'll see if the severity of his back injury/recovery will (hopefully) allow him to play at an elite level going forward.
But had he taken the bag, he'd have permanent, financial peace of mind.
He stood on his principles, sprinkled in with a little bit of pressure from Monahan - and for what.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
Since I think the PGA was eventually going to be in dire financial straits I think they got the better of the deal. Until all the details come out who knows but the Saudis could have outlasted them.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
If the result of this is the LIV tour is just folded into the PGA, and every event is like a normal PGA event from a format/rules standpoint, that would be lame. I like that the events are different.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
I don't think the team events is going away, it's the brainchild of the Saudis. I'm expecting something similar to what Els suggested... a PGA season like right now followed by the team events season. Whatever it is, we're going to see the Saudis/PIF brand through the entire year on both the PGA and DP Tour. That's the way they're going to do their sportwashing, it's their way to show us they're all fine modern citizens of the world.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
Congrats to Nick Taylor for ending one of the ridiculous droughts in sports. He was the first Canadian to win the Canadian Open in 59 years with a ridiculous 72-foot walk-off putt.
First time I've watched more than an hour of golf since Mike Weir won the Masters.
I went like 20 years without making a golf post on Operation Sports and now I've made two in less than a week.Comment

Re: Actual Golf: General Tourney discussion
Welcome back.
We just witnessed one of the greatest moments in Canadian sports history, and in PGA history. It was absolutely incredible.
And it was 69 years, not 59. When I heard that, I was really rooting for Taylor in the playoffs. I like Fleetwood a lot but this was very special to witness.Comment

Rickie Fowler with a 62 at a US Open...what a round! And we might get another 62 with Xander going low, too!
EDIT - two 62s! And half the field is still to tee off!Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 06-15-2023, 04:46 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment
