What a nightmare for EA. Now they have to deal with team golf, a revised tournament schedule and who knows what else.

It’s gross but at the end of the day it’s still about the individual golfers and the world class courses.

Can’t do a City in golf.

Jay Monahan looks like a real clown and still ends up with tax exempt status for the tour.

My guess is the tour knew they were gonna lose all of those lawsuits.

Sounds like this deal was worked out basically in secret by Monahan and the Saudi PIF:

Just talked to a key insider at LIV - they had no idea this was coming. There hasn't been any internal communication yet! Players, agents, etc. are learning about the merger from tweets and news reports. Same on the PGA Tour. Cloak-and-dagger stuff from Monahan and the PIF.

Was actually going to edit my post to say something along those lines. At least it doesn’t directly affect the outcome here.

The LIV antitrust case was rejected on Friday, probably has something to do with that. PIF/LIV could have kept fighting for months, but it looks like they started negotiating with the PGA for a solution which resulted to this merger.

                        Crazy news!

I feel bad for Rory (and others such as Hideki who reportedly turned down huge offer) who have backed the PGA Tour and/or turned down money for this result. They did what they thought was right and then this happens.

I wonder if this has any impact for the current golf games? Add the LIV players to leaderboards?

PGA players who didn't take the LIV money and run must be furious.

From an outsider's perspective I was really enjoying the PGA-LIV feud. I'll be kind of sad to see all the bickering among the rich golfers die down. I found it hilarious.

I know I mentioned this in the other thread, but no changes are taking place until after this season. The 2023 PGA Tour and LIV schedules are going on as normal. Any changes to the LIV or PGA Tour rosters will take place following the season. So I wouldn't expect any adjustments to leaderboards until after this year.

And what's interesting is that 2K23 does have LIV players already listed on the leaderboards...I've seen Cam Smith, Marc Leischman, Joaquin Niemann, Mito Pereira, etc. I know EA does not have any LIV players listed on their career mode leaderboards, though.

I've got a feeling next year is going to look something like Ernie Els suggested months ago. A PGA schedule and the fun LIV teams events during the off-season. As for Rory and other top stars of the PGA, they will be able to enter those LIV team events with guarantee money. Some LIV players will be the one getting squeeze out.

Oh there will for sure be more lawsuits in the future unless some of these guys were taken care of behind the scenes (which isn’t unlikely).

Wild day - this thread has seen more posts today than it has in about a year lol.
