I'm really loving this game so far. My only complaint is that I can't play as the pros. I want to play as Justin Thomas and Jim Furyk, and others. Maybe they can release them as a patch?

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I doubt that will happen...probably licensing issues or something like that. They said right from the get-go that licensed pro players would not be playable in the game.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 08-24-2020, 03:30 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
It’s so misleading to say there is pro golfers this year only to just be in cutscenes and not playable What a heist charging $60 to play as a created player only, good thing I was able to get a refund. Other than that the gameplay/graphics was pretty good for the 1 round I played. Maybe I will repurchase when it’s under $30Comment

They’ve said from the get go that they weren’t playable.
This wasn’t some release day surprise.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
Love this game. I’ve been playing as me with no crowd or announcer. Just me and the carse like real life. Most of the time it feels like real golf. Love tracking the ball in the sun or watching shots land and react. Ball physics is good. Pretty cool. My biggest weakness is chipping. Highly recommended if you like golf like I do. Hope they continue to add golfer perspective and realistic (and not exaggerated) player reactions. Or just more walking down the fairway, traps or walking to the tee boxes, etc. This game is good now and has serious potential.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
After about 35 full rounds a few things I wish they would address...
Allow us to choose our clothing at the beginning of each match right before where you can change your clubs you should also be able to change your daily look
Put back the caddie mode (off or onl so we can choose if we want the game to pick our club and/or shot type before each shot... for some reason they removed that as far as I can tell
Put a setting for frequency for the cutscenes to the other golfers on the course and increase the speed in which that comes and goes instead of that horribly long logo wipe
I know there's no changing it now but I think they should adjust the backstroke so it's a little more delicate and you have more control over manually adjusted partial shots especially the putter you should be able to draw it back a little farther for shorter puts.
HDR lighting... Come on man it's 2020
Bring back punch shot. The True Aim does not allow u to create that as far as I can tellComment

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
Indeed it wasn't, the fact that the pros weren't going to be playable was disclosed over two months ago, when HB Studios feet were held to the fire on it in the Reddit Q&A with them concerning the game. It was picked up and relayed by a multitude of media sources and social media forums as being the case. While I don't like the fact that not only can you not play as a pro, you can't even play directly against them, stroke by stroke, in a round, I certainly can't indict HB Studios or 2K for not disclosing that fact. The buyer has to take some responsibility in knowing what they're buying and in this case there was no mystery.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Not to say I'm the best, or any good for that matter, but I did make a putting tutorial if anyone is interested. It's primarily based on true sim (no grids) type of putting, but the feel theory can still apply to any types:

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Impressions Thread
I've played 54 holes now, 18 in a Legend challenge that was posted in the official forum (shot 125!?), and the rest in Pro. I've had two birdies over those 54 holesI'm finding the game much tougher than I thought it would be, but that's good... I think. What's killing me the most is tempo control. I miss it fast and slow almost equally.
The putting is almost as difficult as tempo control for me. I missed at least 8 or 9 putts of 2 feet or less. Most of my misses are leaving the putt short, although I do tend to pull about one out of four putts. I simply need to spend time on the practice green, getting a handle on the stroke.
The course graphics look better than I thought they would on my XBox One X. No video is able to capture the look of the grass textures. The heavy rough avoids the homogeneous, blanket quality that the videos were seeming to portray. The textures vary enough in height, grain, uniformity, and color shading to where the rough looks natural.
I've got a lot to learn to become comfortable with this game, but it looks like it will be an enjoyable learning curve. I went against my word and played a public matchmaking match last night. After seeing how difficult the game plays in Pro difficulty. I wasn't as worried about the 2 putt previews. My opponent birdied the first hole with an 11 foot putt, while I was looking at an 8 footer for bogey. I thought... 'well, this one's going be over quick! Wrong, I watched my opponent quickly unravel, missing fairways, leaving approaches way short, and missing at least 3, sub 3 foot putts. I won the match 3 and 1.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the game and I'm humbled to say I don't see myself breaking par in Pro (at least not with the power bars off) for a while yet!
Appreciate everyone in here posting their impressions. Great to hear how things are going hands-on with the release version in the real world.
Also, anyone playing this on PC? I am sort of leaning toward PC because I'm thinking that the course creator might be easier to use on a PC, but would be interested in how the game plays on anyone else's rig.Last edited by pietasterp; 08-24-2020, 08:34 PM.Comment
