For some reason people can’t separate in their head the EA experiences on some titles from other titles.

EA is a massive company with many shops and different dev teams and ideologies for most of the titles.

Specifically on their golf games, Rory was the one aberration and definitely the exception and not the rule. I would be absolutely stunned if they are doing all the effort to get back into this space and not learning all the lessons from the Rory errors.

Anyone who just points to Rory and says “this will be a failure” is short cutting on rational thinking here.

Now if you never liked ANY of the EA tiger games…this probably also won’t be for you

Apples and oranges. I hope they come out with a course creator and over 40 courses. I also hope for a date with Jessica Alba.

Played ever Tiger there was. Rory is not indicative of what they can do in the future and hopefully the team working on this knows what they are doing.

          Same!

I put the chances of a course creator as "higher"

So disappointed in 2K23. This looks like a huge upgrade.

It looks great sure, so did Rory. But we all know EA’s track record with first offering on new next gen hardware stripping games to bare bones. I’ll remain skeptical until I see full game play and features are implemented. Their last attempt left a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023

I'm truly impressed with what I saw in terms of the graphics quality, the variety and realistic detail of the galleries and the grass textures. It actually goes a little beyond what I thought even the current Series X and PS5 consoles were capable of. I'm pretty sure EA isn't going to settle for anything less than 60 FPS on this generation of consoles and gaming PCs, so I'm not really worried about that.

The one thing that was glaringly missing in the trailer was this: we were obviously looking at play in a tournament setting, but I didn't see any of the other players or caddies, even the caddie of the player on the tee standing anywhere. I don't know how typical I am of the average golf gaming fan, but when I'm playing in a round where I'm playing with another player(s), I want to see those players and their caddies, including my own caddie, standing where you'd expect them to be standing. It takes so much of the atmosphere away, especially when you're in career mode, and you're the only sign of competitive life in the scene.

I realize it's still over five months away from the game's release, but I hope that this is something that will be in the final version of the game. Aside from that, I'm even more anxious to see what they come up with for a swing interface. I want something with some real tempo requirements and a proportional feel. Both of these were lacking in RMPGAT.

Gotta have caddies and the player has to at least pick the ball out of the hole. It is early yet hope to see some gameplay by the start of the Masters.

I'd certainly love caddies and all the relevant atmospheric candy

But honestly, given where the golf game world is right now and what the options are....that sort of stuff is so far down the list of what I care about.

I'm way more concerned with great physics and proper contextual shotmaking required (to mirror the real sport) and some great swing options, etc

And working scoreboard in career mode.

Not exactly the perfect place to put this link, but thought people would be interested - a decent read on the history of Tiger Woods games past, present and future, from a golfers perspective
