I've noticed that with many of the daily items, only available for women?! It really is unbelievable how cheap and chintzy HB/2K got this year with the clothing and clubs compared to 2K21. They REALLY want to force us to pay to play. It's sickening really. If the game play wasn't so good I'd uninstall this game, it p's me off that much.

2K23 is definitely more Clubhouse Pass-focused than 2K21...2K21 only had 2 of them, and we're already on Season 3 in 2K23. And they let you buy the Clubhouse Pass stuff after the season was over in 2K21, simply with VC. That is not the case here in 2K23 to this point.
I wish there were more items added to the pro shop, too...but I don't really think it's technically "pay to play"...anything in the Clubhouse Pass is cosmetic, although there are consumable golf balls and fittings, too. But those can be gained other ways as well. And they even added some clothing and clubs to the free tier of Season 3's pass, which they hadn't done before.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 04-13-2023, 11:04 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
True, but they sure have made it tough to get new clothes and clubs unless you spend money on the pass, which is no doubt the intent with their new store system. In 2K21, we had the choice of purchasing 15-20 different brands/styles of each type of club and each item of clothing, right from the start. Why remove that option, other than to entice people to spend real money a pass? They also made it much harder to earn VC. I mostly play casual rounds, and in 2K21 I could level up that way. I can't in 2K23, I have to play career mode in order to earn VC.Comment

Doesn’t matter anyway - I don’t think I got many (if any) nice attire from sponsors. Was mostly stuff I didn’t care about.
Best gear I got was from beating rivals.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
I haven't picked up 2K23, I wish 2k would update 2K21 somewhat with more clothing attire. I enjoy the simplicity of just golfing without the 2K23 Myplayer stuff to an extent. Plus playing various user courses, and I don't really needs EAs game. 2k21 isn't bad looking and I know 2k23 improved on that. Awaiting what 2k24 looks like.
What makes you think there will be a 2k24?

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Or 2k25 for that matter
It very much remains to be seen how committed 2K is to golf after coming way down off that pandemic sales rush.
And we have the PGA/LIV mess that makes a licensed product even more fractured and tough to piece together.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
I do agree with you - I would bet a fair amount of money that 2K23 has not sold as many copies as 2K21 did to this point. But I think it does seem to have a deep enough base that another game coming out in the series would not be a surprise with the amount of support they are providing in this game. I'd imagine it would be 2K25, though since they don't really do the yearly release thing.
That said, they will need to make their next game fully "next gen" - and to me this means a new engine, or at least an updated version of Unity that can support better looking graphics (truth be told, I have no idea if this is possible...). No matter what people are saying about issues with EA, it has raised the bar in terms of visuals and presentation in a golf game. 2K23's graphics aren't bad, but they look a lot older and less immersive when compared to the visuals that EA offers. It's really not even close - and I can tell that just by watching compressed YouTube videos.
I know this is always pointed to as something that would cause them to lose a chunk of their base, since switching engines likely means all created courses would be gone. But they can't continue to be stuck in what they have and expect to keep up, if EA decides to stick around.
One other thing...I know when 2K signed a deal with Tiger Woods, it was a "multi-year" deal, and was also described as "long-term"...I'd hope for their sake, 2K would try to use that deal to get more than just one game out of it!Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 04-13-2023, 01:49 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

FYI, I read an article a few years ago that described the psychological effect that cartoonish colour palettes have on certain groups of gamers. Young people up into their 20s are attracted to bright colours. The colour palette used in EA's game, and in all their games, is not realistic for a reason. 2K looks more true to life. IMO 2K25, if there is one, would not need a new engine, it would need the deeper modes and better presentation that EA's game has.Last edited by Brucie; 04-13-2023, 02:18 PM.Comment
