I think I may have to just turn the swing timing off.
Try this: Set difficulty to Pro-Am, it's still a challenge but forgiving enough that it won't drive you nuts. Now, very important, when you move the stick up to strike the ball, flick it, don't push it. Pushing the stick up and having you thumb on the stick when it strikes the ball, is what causes the miss hits.

And of course the club fittings are essential if you want to improve swing timing and so forth. I personally don't use them because I've found the perfect challenge on Pro-Am without the fittings.

I just caught this and I see what you did there, ha. And yes, those are quite the curves, hubba-hubba. I took a more comparative approach, I took a screen of the same golfer (me), on the same course, on the same hole, facing the same direction.

BTW, I have no issues with either game, they are what they are and both are enjoyable. Nevertheless I stand by my comments about EA's color palette, overall body appearance, and especially the generic golfer faces. Cheers.

EDIT: A factual tidbit I just checked up out... EA got the lighting correct. Both are mid-day, and EA has the sun coming in from the south to south-east. 2K has the sun in the north to north-west position.

I see a lot of guys are liking EA but the putting stance is all wrong. Too far away from the ball and the stroke needs to be entirely revamped. I happen to think the graphics in 2k23 are more than adequate for a golf game. I mean EA isn't exactly gonna make you forget about the graphics in AAA titles. Forget the gameplay and cameras. I'll leave it at that.

I don't play 2k for the "real" courses.

*Whispering so nobody else hears*: I actually think 2K23 looks better in almost every category, and certainly better overall...

No question EA's courses have a beautiful 3-D look to them. Other than that though, to my eye 2K gets the nod in every other department: from a more natural and realistic color palette, to player faces especially, to overall golfer body appearance, to stances as you pointed out. And how about those silly-looking oversized club heads in EA, the irons and putter especially? Also the ball-roll animations are so much more authentic in 2K, just compare the two games when you're putting especially.

I am neither for nor against either game, I just tell it like I see it. I really wish 2K had the depth that EA's game has. But I honestly can't play EA's game for more than a short time, to me it is not a pleasant game to look at. Especially when my created golfer in those post-shot close-ups looks nothing like me and more like a crazed jack-o-lantern man.

Do any of you have your golfer in FootJoy pants? I bought 2 pair (gray-ish and blue-ish) for my golfer and they clipped the entire time. Thought it was the lighting during a career round so I started up a casual round and got the same glitch. You might want to avoid that purchase.

I only wear shorts for my casual outfit, and Puma gear for career. But that's a good thing to be aware of!

I don’t get how you say the faces in 2k23 look better my man. The custom players eyes in 2k23 look like they have been up all night and are still tweaking when they are playing a round of golf. No disrespect, but 2k23 lacks in the graphically department. Game play is smooth however.

The faces and player models are much better in 2k. You can get your created golfer to look quite different than the presets. Other than no weight adjustment there is plenty of customization available to you. EA not so much.

I have and play 2k watch streams of both games. There is just something off about EA's game to me. Funny how they claimed to have mo capped players stances and swings yet they come up with a putting stance/stroke straight out of Belmar Playland.

I'm talking about the face creation tool. I was able to create my own face to perfection in 2K.

It's odd that EA decided to release the game with a face creation tool that's a throwback to games from 20 years ago -- a limited number of preset faces that don't allow for any real editing, not even the ability to adjust skin tone. None of the faces look anything like me, and so I've had to create a imaginary golfer (Charlie Citrine from the UK!) because I simply can't play with a golfer that's supposed to be me, but who doesn't look like me in the slightest. FYI there's a decent enough Jack Nicklaus-ish preset face with mop-top hair circa 1975 if anyone wants to play as him.

Fire up 2K and play Sawgrass at noon, and observe the interplay of light and shadows when your golfer is standing in the shady fairway. Every aspect of the game looks photo-realistic to me -- that's me standing in the fairway preparing to shoot (see previous post above for context, ha). Whereas everything about EA's game looks and feels like I'm watching a cartoon-version of what golf is supposed to look and play like... from the hit-every-fairway tee shots, to the clownishly oversized club heads, to the golfer stances and animations (putting especially) that, like you said, are completely off.

Completely agree with all of this and your first post about the player creation. 2k is definitely better in many ways. That's what's so frustrating, it's little things that should have been tweaked from Rory days before release, and they are things I'm assuming are very patchable. Holding out hope these issues and the random/disconnected swing outcomes are patched soon.

I've been hoping for a great game from EA as well. I'm not here to bash them or the game, I'm really just responding to the poster who questioned me about player faces in each game. As for the future, any EA game will need to start/play offline for me. I play all my games offline 99% of the time. Can't play or even start EA's game without an internet connection, so that's a complete no-go for me.

Both games are way, way, way too dependent on their online connections.

All you can do in PGA 2K23 without an internet connection is play local rounds at TopGolf or at the 2K Official courses - none of the user-made courses can be played. You can also work in the designer, but cannot publish a course.

All you can do with EA when not connected to the internet is play a quick round at any of the courses: https://youtu.be/33yBbXeq8GI

Both of these games basically become coasters if you don't have an online connection. It's unfortunate, but it's the way of the world these days.

I know you can play quick mode without signing into the EA servers. The problem is I cannot even start EA's game without an internet connection, it won't launch, period. It's an issue for me because I don't have internet much of the year. I can play 2K golf without the internet and that's what I do, but not EA's game. Unfortunate because with EA's game I can play vs CPU opponents in quick mode, which would be good enough for me. And I wish 2K had that option. Anyway, I realize it's my issue and that none of this affects anyone else, everyone else in the world has internet 24/7 lol.
