Just an FYI - seems the servers for 2K23 are down for anyone using PC/Steam.

Nope, they each have only one outfit they wear.

            Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions

Need some insight and new member so can't post a thread as of yet....Started the journey a while back with 2k23 and now more interested in playing randos Online in team concepts. I hadn't done a lot of online play and now realize that Difficulty mandated at PRO. Cool. It is much more difficult than whatever modified settings I had been using offline to just gain XP, etc... Here are my main questions:
            1. Can someone send supply some screenshots of how your Skill Tree is configured?
            2. Do you think that most of the players (I am matched up with online) are using "special" balls? I only ever use the normal basic ball and have experimented very little with specialty balls. Assume these would run out too quickly and then it is a money grab to buy points to buy more, etc... If fairly accurate assessment what is THE best ball (or two) upgrades to use for online matchmaking?
            3. Does your Player Type (or whatever they call it, sorry) I.e. Marksman, Balanced, Power Dude, etc. matter all that much in terms of online play?
            4. Is an XP Level 35 player (with an obviously not-maxed Skill Tree built out) using Normal Balls really that disadvantaged to a Lvl 50 XP player who is using those really good balls when playing Online?

I guess I am facing off against quite a few beast mode players online who just hit routine drives into every fairway and then pretty darn accurate with hitting greens near pins....compared to me and I'm trying to figure out where the gaps might be. Thanks for any insight you can shed.

I'm confused more so about these club fittings. I don't get how one gets these additional fittings and then when you go to apply it, you can't purchase even though they don't cost anything (X - purchase is greyed out, not pictured).

                1. Can't right now, not at my console. I will say that I don't use any putting skills that offer "Putt Weight", and I also don't use any skills that add "Roll". A lower "Roll" attribute in the game is desired, IMO.

                2. I think it's likely that many players are using the consumable golf balls online. After you play this game long enough, you will have a near endless supply of them. I think the better ones are ones that offer high "Flight" attributes and low "Roll" attributes. These golf balls add distance to shots, but also make the ball stop quickly on greens. If I remember right, the Legendary Aviator golf balls are one that many consider to be "best", but I guess that it's all personal preference.

                3. The player archetype does make a difference in all game areas where you use your MyPlayer, so yes.

                4. The players' actual skill on the controller will come into play here, but I would say that a Level 50 player with a maxed skill tree using a consumable golf ball will have an advantage over a Level 35 player with less of the skill tree filled out and the default golf ball. The Level 50 player with the arcade ball will have more skill abilities and boosts, and will have a ball that's probably flying farther and stopping quicker.

I would also chime in and say that anyone of any level using the 3-click swing mechanic is also at an advantage online...it's clearly an easier swing type in terms of getting more consistency than using the analog swing. I personally wish that analog swing and 3-click swing were put into different matchmaking lobbies online.

Great response MAB, you complely nailed it! I was going to answer myself, but you said everything I was going to say and then some!

I use the highest friction balls that VC can buy. They have the lowest roll factor of all, and that's the physics component that's the most overstated in this game!

Just noticed a new official course in PGA 2K23 called...

                    Clickbait Country Club?

The back tees there are over 8,000 yards...lol

EDIT - it's Chris McDonald’s (Shooter McGavin) dream course, done by designer VctryLnSprts: https://twitter.com/PGATOUR2K/status...68273236258816

I have...I actually was able to play it twice since it came out. Maybe there was a server issue or something when you tried?

"Clickbait" has the same hang-ups that "Finau Fresh" (another VLS design) did for me...someone else outside the designer had input and it made the course kind of silly or "fantasy" in spots in terms of playability.

Both "Finau" and "Clickbait" have back tees that are over 8,000 yards, and each course has massive, almost unrealistic, elevation changes at times. I'm just not a huge fan of the slog of 500-plus-yard par-4s that are almost 100 feet uphill from tee to green and play into the wind, followed by a wild 200-yard, 100-foot-downhill par-3.

I think VLS created a really cool environment here (I have heard it compared to the "Arctic Fury" style of visuals, and I'd agree) and the technical work is top-notch, but these collaboration courses drift too far into the world of "fantasy" for me and aren't the kind of courses I usually enjoy playing.
