Oh, for sure. I should've clarified those "hop-skip-stop" on lower lofted clubs are completely dependent on whether I have the wind in my face to knock it down or not. But yeah, your experience matches mine. Obviously not expecting a 3 wood flying 250 to stop on a dime, but with the right backspin, usually aiming a few feet short of the hole I can expect about a 5-10 yard runout, which has always seemed pretty... fair to me. On higher lofted clubs I usually have the issue of applying too much backspin and causing it to stick and roll right off the front of the green lol

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Am I the only one who's never had issues with rollout by just moving the right stick down with default ball? On pretty much all my shots, I add some backspin to get them to stop and have never really felt that the roll-outs were that bad when doing that.. Even with high irons and woods, adding tons of backspin to them has always given me a pretty good "hop - skip - stop" motion on my balls..
Maybe I'm just not understanding what you guys are seeing, but I never needed to use any of the special balls to get my balls to stop rolling out. When I see people online hit short chips that rollout a mile after, I always assume they just didn't add any backspin..?Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
I have never used anything other than the default ball. When you play on some of these courses created for play on Platinum Tour most of the greens are quite quick and the landing areas can be quite small. You just can't stop the ball no matter what you try to do. Even nearly perfect shots run off the green into the collection areas. You can be dead if you short side yourself.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
It seems things have gotten pretty quiet here, but I thought I'd let folks know that 2K23 has a bunch of the Clubhouse Pass stuff from previous seasons in the Pro Shop, and they can be bought with basic VC now.
Things like the hickory clubs (they do not play like hickory, however), a bunch of TaylorMade gear, Malbon apparel, all the Bogey Boys attire, etc.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Picked up the TaylorMade stuff, since it included the Tiger Woods iron set and a nice putter. And also a golf ball with bacon and eggs on it. Can't say no to that...haha!Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
There's a bundle in the featured section now that shows 16 items. It has a picture of a P7TW iron showing in the menu. There's also a MyStealth Plus driver, several TP5 Pix golf balls, blue TaylorMade gloves, and a P208 Spider GT putter in it.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 01-04-2024, 12:13 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
I agree with a lot of his points here, but was a bit surprised there was zero discussion about career mode or any other offline modes.
The biggest issue with 2K23 to me is the lack of depth and immersion in the game. Everything has the "hollow" feel to it. Even if you're playing a PGA Tour event in career, the course feels empty - heck, even the fans are transparent and golf balls fly right through them.
They added TopGolf but then did nothing with it, so it's the same single mode at the same single venue. Most people probably played it once and then never played it again.
I think 2K needs to give people more to do than simply play a round of golf, then another round of golf, followed by another round of golf - all at courses that have vaguely the same look to them because there are only a limited number of backgrounds and themes to use in the designer.
They have Tiger Woods' license...make some challenges or mini-games centered around his career or something. Let us play famous moments from the licensed tournaments they have in-game. Instead of having the weak form of sponsorships in career, where it's just "play well and get stuff", make it so you need to actually wear gear from that sponsor. Have there be sponsor challenges or obligations, like I remember the old Tiger Woods EA games having in the week leading up to each event - things like short match-play events against pros sponsored by the same brands. As it is, it's just another progression bar you get to reach a max level and then poof, you're done. Zero reason to replay it.
Anyway, thanks for sharing that video...he did go pretty well in-depth. I just wish there were any mention of career mode or other new additions for those looking for a single-player experience.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 01-16-2024, 07:31 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Agreed Beach.
When I reached Level 50 with my golfer...that kind of did it for me for a while.
I like something you brought up. NBA 2K23 had The Jordan Challenge, and 2K24 has Mamba Moments. Maybe give us Tiger's Top Ten or something, where we have to hit a certain Par, beat this player head-to-head, or a quick one where you have to hit a difficult shot "this close" to the hole (NBA 2K23 had a quick one where you only had to hit "The Shot" over Craig Ehlo).
I would love for them to get the license for some legends as well like I've said before. But yes--do more with Tiger since that was supposed to be a big get for 2K.Comment
