Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
While definitely a possibility, let’s not forget that a game engine is only a canvas… it doesn’t automatically make games pretty or even good.
EA 23 is on frostbite same as Madden 24 was, yet player models and faces are nowhere close to maddens nor is their even rain like in Madden.
It comes down to the game budget and devs I believe.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
In EA 23 on ps5….
Meanwhile on TWPGA2005 PS2, you have rain and time of day options including night golf…
Insane how much stuff EA cut with Rory 15 and hasn’t bothered to add back.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
While I agree on the niche part, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for rain in a golf game for one, it should be standard and TGC / 2K has had it since the beginning I think.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
And that's the pain endured by niche gamers. I've never played Grand Theft Auto; never played Call of Duty....but desperately want 2K to succeed at PGA Tour and their upcoming Topspin game that I've been waiting for since 2011's Topspin 4.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
I agree and rain on the greens should affect break and rollout. It it only cosmetic in 2k. This would be a very difficult thing to implement correctly.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Cosmetic is better than nothing, but what if I told you TW2005 on PS2 had rain effects with actual slow fairways etc?Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Rain is a 'nice to have' and we will probably get that in time if EA keep working on the game. Same with time of day, which was perfect on TW14. HB is far from the same cycle, just adding stuff to the same old engine. A lot of the features will be gone too if they start from scratch on a new engine.Comment

I feel like they put out at least 1 more with it but it but who knows how long they secured it or if it would be easy to renew.Comment

No clue...Augusta keeps their inner workings pretty close to the vest - they don't disclose any financial information, their official member list, or even how many tickets they sell for each year's Masters.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K23 Impressions
Your guess is as good as mine or anybody else... same with this Live Service. I would like it if they release a new game with a lot more features next year but with some of the lead designers gone to 2K, who knows. We should know a lot more before the Masters, this is a long pro-pass right now and they could come up with something substantial, new courses, new features, etc.Comment

I feel like if they could just get a 2nd game out the door with a much deeper 1:1 swing mechanic that punishes you and much more all around depth that’s missing (rain) (shot replay) (faster ai opposition) (offline career mode -I know I’m reaching-) …. It could easily rocket to one of the best golf games ever made… I don’t think any of that is beyond EAs ability.
I just worry EA does not want to invest the resources to do much more than what we got.Last edited by easports2014ncaa; 02-24-2024, 08:55 PM.Comment
