Also, this sort of rubbed me slightly the wrong way:

So ... you can't say more, but you promise it won't be the Rory story, and you "know people" and "know things" that the rest of us don't..

But definitely "keep things moving forward" by buying the game now, despite the state it is in?

Maybe you could reach out to a moderator here and tell them more about your situation in confidence -- to help validate any of this?

    Do you work for EA?

~~Today, an update is going live on all platforms to address several critical issues that the team identified:~~

We finalized an update that will go **live across all platforms sometime next week**. The update will address several critical issues that the team identified:

      * Fixed an issue that was putting players into a repeating loop when trying to claim tournament rewards.
      * Fixed an issue in Career Mode that was causing some users game to crash when resuming a round of playoffs.
      * Fixed a compatibility issue related to certain monitors and TV’s with Dolby Vision HDR that was causing the game to crash.
      * Fixed an issue that would cause a crash if players changed menu tabs too quickly while tool tips were enabled.

These changes were prioritized for an immediate hotfix based on the number of players affected and severity of the issues. We are continuing to evaluate player reports and feedback to inform and prioritize future improvements to the game.

Our team is committed to ensuring that the community feels heard and understands their importance to the continued development of *EA SPORTS PGA TOUR*. Exactly where I'm at, especially on PC, where the performance and fleshing out could use some major polish and additional features.

PS5, I absolutely love career mode at default tour difficulty. Grinding out on KF tour, then got card and started PGA tour. Play all rounds on PGA.
            First 3 tourneys:
            PGA west -8 15th place
            Torrey Pines +5 missed cut
Pebble Beach -15 won after 3 way sudden death playoff

            Having a blast.

I understand where you're coming from, but I've been burned by EA wayyyyyy too many times and, to be honest, I'm over it. There's not a product they make that I need anymore. Such is the effect of their conduct over recent years.

And, respectfully, the fact that the title has no year on it means nothing, since no EA Sports franchise had a year attached to the title on its inaugural offering.

I'm in a favorable position, in that I still have 5 months left on my Play Pro. That's how much time they have to patch it up to spec. Given how abysmal EA's releases have been this past year (looking at you, F1 and FIFA), PGA is the last hope for my subscription. If they can't get it where it should be in 5 months, I'm out.

I picked it up last night after thinking about possibly waiting until the first patch and I'm glad I did. For the warts it has, the game plays very well, looks amazing, and offers up so many different ways to play the game that for me, made the decision to pick up worth it.

Also, I have the disc version and there is an insert in the game that has controls on one side, and on the other side is a description of all the shot types. Thought that was pretty cool.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If I hadn't mangled my CPU socket when I installed my new i7 processor in it when it was misaligned, I could answer that question myself... although I'm sure I would have had to have dropped to 1080p or less to get a frame rate like that with a GTX-1070 8GB.

That initial lag is something I'm sure I'll struggle with if I ever do buy the game. I'm going to give it a few patches and price reductions before I move on this game though. How long did you try & play the game for JC..?
I still do not see lag in the swing. Occasionally a tiny hitch if you start the backswing when the CAG is having a preshot club waggle. Go back & have a closer look if you have any EA access time left & try & start the backswing as the waggle settles to address position. It’s genuinely an enjoyable game if you can get past your initial gameplay problems with the swing.

I’m going to have to wait for three click as I cannot play this game with the sticks. I’m just so terrible at the sticks always have been.

I've played the trial version on the Series X for almost 9 hours now. I haven't consciously tried the waggle, but I'll give it a go. I will say this... I find the lagging swing to be very hard to manage on short chip shots. I dread a chip shot of less than 10 yards because it's so hard to feel the club on a swing that short.

I put such a premium on being able to have a responsive swing in an analog swing interface, and I'm simply not finding it in EA Sports Golf. What this game has done is give me a greater appreciation for the proportional responsiveness of PGA TOUR 2K23, even though I find it a little inconsistent on the Series X. PGA 2K23's swing was very responsive and consistent on my PC (before I bricked it trying to upgrade its CPU), even though I had to throttle it back to 1440p to get a solid 60 FPS.

I think I could probably have gotten EA Sports PGA Tour to run at 60 FPS on my PC in 1080p and I at least would have a better idea about how my attitude with the swing responsiveness would be at 60 FPS. Right now I really can't say. I hate to comment on what kind of rage quits the 30 FPS putting has triggered in me with this game. It's not helping me that I'm forced to endure the "perma-putting-meter". I'm trying to take my eyes off of it to watch the putter animation but I can't manage it... they're too close together. It's giving my brain mixed signals.

I wish I had a PC that could run it at 60 FPS to give you a more informed answer to that question. I suspect that it would help some, but if it's enough to bring it back into the realm of long term playability for me... I can't say for sure. I'm hearing from a lot of high power PC system owners who say they see a significant lag. I'm sure the opinions on this are going to vary so it's like you'd have to see for yourself would be my guess.

If I can get my PC working again I'm going to have a 10 hour trial in store for me with it. I'm sure I'll have to peel it back to 1080p to achieve 60 FPS, but I'm okay with that if it will yield a swing that don't make me feel like I'm swinging the club underwater.

I think that's a wise strategy! I find now that I'm playing 2K23 with a new, more appreciative perspective.

My opinion is... I'd wait. Personally I don't mean that in a bad way but... I just feel it needs some improvements to the swing mechanics. I feel it is very inconsistent right now, and it feels slow. That being said though, there's some great depth in the title right now. I mean, golf is golf. Play 18, move on. Career mode, it's play the PGA tour schedule year after year. Like... that's a golf game. But there's alot of different challenges to complete, skills/shots to unlock etc. It's just a pretty in depth game on the surface. Is that fully developed yet? No. Then there's the game itself, while the mechanics leave a bit to be desired in it's current state... the visuals. the audio. the presentation. It blows all of the competition out of the water. It's not even close. I enjoy the game, but some of the mechanics frustrate me at the same time. So, my hope is there's some updates and improvements coming to the core gameplay elements. When those come if they do improve what needs to be improved upon this game has some massive potential. That being said too... no course creator is a let down. But, there are 30 courses in the game as it is, and they're incredible to see.

So to me, there's a good game now as it is. It can be even better. If those improves come and they address some of the early issues with the gameplay to me, it's a really impressive golf game

I would avoid at this point. It looks amazing but at this point game play doesn’t match esthetics. It plays a bad golf game compared to its rival.
