Had a round on 2K23 last night after spending 5 day’s playing EA golf & to be honest I’d never noticed it before the swing is too fast. I guess the only reason I’d like the EA game speeded up a bit is so I can carry on playing both because at the moment switching between games is not an option.
Also looking forward I can’t see how EA can put three click in this game as it’ll be too easy due to speed.

Re: Buy, Wait or Avoid? EA Sports PGA Tour

I am on pc and play with framerate unlocked and at 4k ultra with proper hdr.
Some courses looks amazing whilst others have serious glitches.
Brookline looked awful when I played. The fairway colours don't exist in the real world.
So with a powerful pc the game runs well. But there also shading and lighting issues that a doubt ea will bother to correct.
Gameplay wise. The ai is broken unless you max out the ai opponent difficulty. There's no other apparant way to get the ai in tournaments to actually be responsive. The NPC first round score are their final round scores.
      EA won't fix this.
Its actually a direct replica of the ai in Rory golf game from many years ago.
The game is potentially stunning but as its ea the game has many issues that could easily be fixed but won't be.
I can't recommend buying the game.
I have play pro which is a bargain £1.70 a week or £15 a month (not quite a bargain)
I wouid suggest trying before buying.
Take out the one month for £15 and then cancel if you don't like the game. You've saved a lot of money.
After all, on pc you never actually own any game. We only lease them.
We all surely know that playing any ea sports game is usually a frustrating experience. It's never entirely satisfactory.
      Hope this helps.
Incidentally, I have all the 2k games and they are awful.
So in my book you either play this or nothing when it comes to golf. For even with its problems, this ea is tiger woods to 2k Peter Oosterhuis.
      Ouch.
Incidentally, I like the game very challenging with no things like power boost and silly spin control button mashing.

Disagree with the 2K comment. Room for improvement but definitely not awful.

I mean the career mode is worth every penny. 2K has an absolute joke of a career mode so if you are a career mode player, it is worth a buy now. If not, 2K may be the way to go. I am loving the gameplay personally.

I agree that the career mode is very deep, but “worth every penny??”
            Nah man.
Career mode will still be there when the game goes on sale.
But I’m glad you are liking the game.
Too broken all around to justify a full price buy though.

We were in this exact spot in 2015.

Given how it went with Rory, just telling people "this time is different" has no believability behind it until it's actually shown.

We'll see how interested EA actually is over time.
Releasing with so many niggles and basic features missing isn't the best start either (IMO)

(at least we have more courses at launch this time - which is very good!).
              Funny you mention 2015.
Because this game has all the same feels that NHL 15 had.
Bare boned game. Looks spectacular but has zero substance past the career mode. No skins, alt shot, just challenges…
NHL games are STILL trying to catch up to NHL 12

                100%

I literally still play NHL Legacy for PS3, as it’s where the series and feature set really peaked (custom music and sounds, on and on)

I should’ve prefaced with “for me, worth every penny”. I got it with my EA Play Pro as well. So little different value for me.

I’m also able to fix some gameplay things with modding already, will just get better as we go.

If you enjoy golf, I think it’s worth trying the 10 hour trial for $5 and decide then. Totally worth that.

Re: Buy, Wait or Avoid? EA Sports PGA Tour

The thing is this game has a lot more to offer than just career mode (which is fantastic in it's own right).

The hundreds of challenges are so addictive. The fact that they are allowing you to recreate shots from real tournaments as they are going on is pure bliss for any fan of the PGA Tour. And some of these will test the nettles of even the best gamers. I love that it is progressive in that you have 3 conditions to meet and you dont have to get all 3 in 1 attempt.
They have the ability to continue to add more also.

Then there are daily, weekly, and seasonal online tournaments to check how you stack up with others for a virtual world golf tour. Good luck hanging with the best out there! Love how they give prizes based on your ranking so everyone can get a little something for trying.

Online play is fun with 16 players and they are looking to adding even more options.

Future is looking to explore the Ryder Cup and some additional game modes and...[insert some things many have asked for]. Can't say much more but I do know this game is going to have some really cool things coming.

I have been having great fun with this game but I do recognize that it isn't perfect by any measure. Some things I absolutely hate too...for example the triple bogey pickup infuriates me. But no wart I have come across has stopped the enjoyment I get out of pulling off a great shot when a tournament is on the line. Or finally sinking that 114 finesse shot to match what Jason Day pulled of in the 2nd round of the real Masters this week. I could go on, just as I am seeing the stories and shots coming from many others in Discords, Twitter, and Facebook. Nobody can deny there are a lot of people enjoying this game.

The game is beautiful and really looks amazing on the PS5. With that being said it's an AVOID for me, it is not thought out very well and the other golf game is a much better option IMHO.

On PC it’s a buy buy buy. Gameplay is decent (better than 2k imo), a few little bugs but I’m really enjoying it. Career is deep too, and finally playing as a pro or vs a pro (cpu)

Would you mind sharing your PC's specs here? I upgraded my PC from an i5-4440 to an i7-4770, to go along with my GTX 1070 8GB/16 GB PC-1600 DDR3 RAM,Windows 10 64 bit system. I find the game unplayable at the res I *thought* I'd be able to play it at and that is 1080p. I have to cut the res back to 720p to get close to 60 FPS, and have to cut textures and detail back to medium, or less, to achieve that.

I can maintain 30 FPS at 1080p most of the time, but the game's already throttled swing speed feels even more sluggish at 30 FPS. It's weird, my XBox Series X does a better job of sustaining 30 FPS at 4K, than my supposedly equally, if not more richly appointed gaming PC does at 1080p, with medium or less texture and object details.

I would love to see what this game would look and play like in 4K @ 60 FPS, or higher, but I hate to think about how much I would have to invest in a gaming PC that would make it possible!? From what I'm hearing though, even such a machine is not going to get rid of the animation delay lag at the start of the backswing, nor remove the seemingly overly governed swing animation speed.

I bought it, no regrets at all.

I don't love the putting but it's growing on me.

It would be nice if you could hit a higher shot like a flop out of the bunkers but this is nitpicking really.

As an averagely skilled player I think it's pretty good so far. Honestly the 30 fps doesn't bother me.

I think putting is the weakest part. I doubt i will ever 3 putt with the dial a distance. If they make a way to turn meter off then it might get better

Although your specs are just above minimal requirements, Its gonna be hard to play games like EA Golf and have a enjoyable experience. The game isn't optimized.

If I'm not mistaken, The Xbox Series X has the equivalent processor of a Ryzen 7 3700X which is faster than a I7-4770 and a GPU equivalent of a 6600XT which is faster than a GTX 1070. Unfortunately, running modern AAA titles even at a lower resolutions and medium settings will be a struggle.

Trust me, I have a 4090 and the game still plays poorly compared to other AAA titles. It makes no sense that this golf game performs so poorly. I'm not saying its not playable, just the constant frame hitching and laggy swing and menus are unacceptable.
