I noticed they made a UI/quality of life update in MyCareer when it comes to sponsor messages.

When a sponsor offers to team up with you, you used to only get options to "Accept" and "Decline". There is now a third "Review" option which takes you to the sponsor page and shows you what the rewards are for that sponsor.

A small thing, but saves you from having to go back and go through two or three additional screens.

Respawn has been really dialed into the VC/progression concerns in PGA 2K25, and just uncovered some stuff that's interesting and good news, but also equally frustrating and silly.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/PGA_Tour_2K...than_expected/

Here's his TL;DR version of what he found:

TL;DR - Quest UI/tracking is pretty bad which doesn't show all the rewards that are available in the Quest screen. About 1600 VC is actually achievable but not shown until you complete the quest in the after round screen. Grind isn't as bad as previously expected and should take most on average of about 80 hours to get to 99 if playing offline. Still some tuning that needs to be made with quests/vc per hole, but game is heading in the correct direction and a constructive discussion can be had on that. Please can online players be rewarded for the extra time they have to spend menu surfing.

Had a funny glitch the other day were I missed a par putt but my golfer continued the celebration anyway. It was the one were the golfer fist pumps as they walk towards the hole. Should’ve saved the clip but didn’t, the amount of f*** it vibes it gave off was hilarious.

I had noticed this with a few of the milestone quests this week, some of them awarded VC but didn’t show it on the quest screen. I believe quests only show a maximum of 5 rewards on their screen, but many have more than that and they just don’t show all the rewards you get. The weekly quests for example award 150 VC and 6 fittings plus 3 of each of the 3 consumable ball packs - but on the quests screen you only see 150 VC and 4 fittings when it reality you get 16 rewards. It’s pretty bad, that really needs a change to be more transparent so people can better judge what quests they want to aim for.

I’m glad the quest system is in a better place than expected with VC, I think I can corroborate that to some extent because I’ve played ~40-50 hours of the game in the last week and racked up ~17k VC, most of which is probably from quests. I think some VC tweaking would be nice there regardless (no non-daily quest should award less than 100 VC for completing it imo), but the main remaining issue seems to be general VC gain now. Respawn seems to have settled on asking for 4 VC/hole, I would prefer it go back to 5 so you can get enough for one AP every 2 rounds/35 holes, much preferable to what is now 59 holes per AP. Slowing XP gain from 540 per round to 360 or 450 would also be good to slow progression of leveling up so people aren’t having chunks of available AP that they can’t spend. IMO XP should be the limiting factor in upgrading your first character, or it can be VC but only to a small extent. The effectiveness of a change like that this far into release is probably limited, but would make upgrading additional characters more enjoyable I think. Make other tweaks to rewards in some modes - 75-100 VC for defeating a rival instead of 20, 100-150 VC in sponsor reward tiers, VC reward for winning a ranked match (maybe 50), changing participation rewards for Ranked Tours and matchmaking to 100-150 VC instead of 25 (maybe this change can’t be made until Season 2) along with making daily and weekly quests more enjoyable to complete and I think the VC system can be in a decent spot.

This must be why a couple days ago I got 4000 or so VC for quest rewards.

80 hours to max out a player character is completely insane. Why is that supposed to be OK? If you want to be on equal footing online you need a maxed out archetype, and you're supposed to burn 80 hours to get to that point?

Huh? I’ve been playing online with a 75 ovr golfer and doing just fine… who said you need a 99 ovr to compete?

From my time with the game I would disagree that you need to max out your character to be on relatively equal footing online. Out of the 12 attributes, imo only the top 3 attribute pairs (power-contact, swing path-correction, and shaping-recovery) have a big effect on your character and powering them up. If put all your AP into those 3 attribute pairs (mainly the first 2) starting out you can get your character's attributes to a competitive level on just half the AP you'll ever get. The shot types can also make your character a lot better and are more untethered from VC outside of the OVR requirements and shot types you need to get from other archetypes.

I would also argue that this game, and golf games in particular, is less attribute-focused and more skill-focused than similar sports games like NBA 2K. There isn't a set of intangible attributes like speed, acceleration, etc. that make a huge difference competitively, being good at this golf is mostly about aiming in the right spots and executing your swings. You can be competitive with a lower-rated character if you're just good at those things.

If we're going to use the 80 hours to max out your character as a baseline, I would say your character will be on a mostly even playing field after around 50 of them, though that may be a conservative estimate. Though it will take longer to get all the shot types from other archetypes (granted I only think 2-3 of them are really important to have) or build up other characters and that is another point of criticism to have.

First off you don’t need a maxed out player to compete online. Second, 80 is nothing when compared to how long it takes to max out a player in any other gaming genre.

Maybe it’s just me but maxing out characters and such used to be a huge grind back in the day and as some point since then, maybe since the adoption of micro transactions), we’ve shortened the grind time significantly so people think you should have it done in significantly less time.

I’m personally fine with 80 hours because it means I’ll have a reason to keep playing the game to keep boosting my player instead of putting it down in a month because I’ve maxed everything out.

Pin placements still stuck on #1 for all rounds at many courses. Signature and Major events seem fine but not regular tour events.

Finally decided not to use the shot bias anymore. I just can’t do it. Maybe because I’m in my mid 30’s and just can’t, but I am definitely enjoying the gameplay more with just the regular swing stick.

It seems to be specific courses, I had the same pins on Bay Hill (signature event) but different pins on TPC Sawgrass.

The shot bias & all that Evo swing offers absolutely makes this game for me. Played 144 holes straight on my last look at the game. Difficult to put down when you have engaged with the challenge the game offers up.

My single biggest issue with 2K25 are the visuals so been trying to adjust my TV’s to offset the shortcomings. Been dipping the brightness to make the bunkers look a bit better but doesn’t always work. Don’t know why but actually disabling HDR rendering on the graphics options makes the game look much better on both my OLED & QLED panels. Both TV’s look great with most HDR content but this game just looks off, anyone else having the same experience?
