The flop shot used to be perfectly challenging to execute...it's absolutely OP now.

Also, they are doing another double XP weekend, lasting until March 17. They are just going to continue exacerbating the issue where people have a bunch of attribute points to use because the XP goes up so high, but they don't have enough VC to use them...can't imagine why they'd do that...

I don't personally think the flop shot is quite at the OP level at least at Master and above, but it definitely was at a good difficulty before and the buff was totally unnecessary (who was asking for it?). If anything it needed to be made a little harder, same with the Super Flop. Also, the nerf the Pick got was definitely not close to enough, I'm glad it rolls out at a more realistic degree (probably still too arcadey though) but it should still have at least the shot bias of the flop. All of these high-spin shots should have really punishing distance penalties if you are off on the swing plane, that'd be a good way to balance them better. I think the shot types are in a pretty good place overall, better than they were in EA's game, but tweaking is still needed.

It's too bad Ranked Multiplayer (and other modes as well, I guess) is being ruined by the Flop shot.

They need to do something about this. Instead of chipping from just outside the green, say, like normally, players resort to the Flop shot, which goes far in the air and down, right near the cup. It's a cheesy shot, something I really consider as cheating. The shot is not a natural part of the game, from such a short distance.

No more Ranked Multiplayer for me until this situation gets resolved.

I agree. I feel much more comfortable hitting a flop or superflop than a chip. Chips are harder to know roll out. Flops are easy to execute for the most part. Flops should be one of the hardest to hit close.

Sounds very much like the Pick shot in EA...no way to miss, no matter the lie in the sand, always within 3 feet of the hole. Cheese indeed.

Nothing in this game remotely compares to the cheat code Pick shot from EA's game, thankfully (except maybe the Pick shot from this game lol). The flop shot can be punishing if you're well off-base and it's not a shot you can hit well right out of the box, but once you get it down you can be consistent with it to a degree that shouldn't be possible. It's just not punishing if you're only slightly off-base, and Ranked Multiplayer being on Pro difficulty makes every too-good shot play even more so.

Flops are so risky in real life unless you are really good. They should make it just as risky in the game by making you skull it if you don't execute the swing perfectly.

Difficult or not in real life, no one that I've ever seen hits a flop from the fringe or close in, like I've seen others do while playing this game.

They should either get rid of it or make it a VERY risky shot, or else provide an option for the host to filter out such easy, cheesy, cheating shots. And it should be banned in Ranked.

I think the Pick, Flop, and Super Flop need tuning in the game...they are close to auto up-and-down shots as they are now. Even on some pretty bad mis-hits with those shots, I'm usually within 5-10 feet of the hole. On good swings, you're up nice and cozy or in the cup.

I didn't even use a flop in the demo or in early access...they made it easier, and now I use it fairly frequently around the greens when short sided, because chips won't stay anywhere close.

It seems only reasonable that shot types, and the difficulty in executing them with good results, in the virtual game should mirror the challenges of great execution of those shots and situational usages in real life.

They already did a pretty intense nerf of the spinner, the same time they made flops and picks easier. They also removed the ability to use the Thai Spinner on the green in the same shadow update.

I think the skill shot types are all over the place in terms of usefulness and functionality. Does anyone even use the "Lag Putt" or the "Runner"?

I wonder if draw golfers find the flop too easy seeing they have to switch the swing bias. I had never even considered that when choosing a fade. Seems quite an advantage to faders, maybe make us switch to a draw to hit it. Not that any shots are easy for me, lol.
