Ok I wasn't interested after playing the demo, but I've just read every post here from page 10 to the end, and it definitely sounds like aside from some bugs and glitch/screen tearing issues, most of you are really enjoying it.

Can someone point me to the best price on the standard version? I'm guessing since it's just released it's the same price everywhere, just curious.

Not many discounts out there, but if you want it on PC, you can get a code for it at CDKeys for $61. Otherwise, it's basically $70 everywhere.

Would you say that the game itself is different or "improved" from the demo, other than the bland rendering of Scottsdale? Is it basically just like how the demo plays and feels?

I don't know what it is...the game play videos I just watched on youtube along with comments here just make it seem like the swing tempo and general look and feel of the game is interesting to me and different looking than when I played the demo for less than an hour.

The game is MUCH different than the demo...they have updated the mechanics in the full game, and you also don't get new shot types in the demo.

The gameplay in 2K25 is the best it's ever been in the series, hands down.

Well that settles it then haha. It did indeed look much different in the real game play videos, just the pace of it all, being able to see all of the different camera angles and cutaways, etc. I'll drop the $70 for a hard copy, if I don't like it more than EA I'll know pretty quickly and just sell it.

EDIT: Found it on eBay for $40 new in a clear case without the actual cover case. That's good enough for me haha. I'm sure I'll get $40 entertainment out of it.

For anyone interested, there is also a seller on eBay selling brand new full packaging ones for $49.99 Make Offer with $7.99 shipping for the Standard version, it says there are 9 left. Probably able to get it for $50 shipped. In fact in hindsight it was dumb for me not to do that lol.

So basically, instead of making it 5x harder to progress to account for that, they made it ~20-30x harder to earn VC (estimated 90-95% of VC removed from quests and 1.67x slower VC accrual per hole) and made leveling up our characters cost 1.4x more. Making rate of play ~30-40x slower than before (and that might be a conservative estimate), and now ~6-8x slower than intended. Great work.

Returning to this math I did right after the VC nerf - I might try and see what I can find in how much quest VC rewards were actually reduced by, but it seems the 90-95% I had estimated was pretty off. After the findings Respawn made, it might be more around 60-70% that were taken out (~3-4x less VC earnable from quests), but even that could be inexact. Updating the math, I'll tentatively estimate they made it 5-7x harder to earn VC and when combined with the 1.4x higher cost of using AP, they made progression ~7-9x slower than in early access. Not as crazy as the previous estimate of 30-40x slower, but still a slight overcorrection since they claimed progression was 5x faster than intended in early access. Imo, putting VC earning per hole back to 5 VC/hole could make up for this overcorrection all on its own.

Also regardless of how much of an overcorrection this was or not, imo the timing of the nerf combined with the reasons they gave while not nerfing XP gain instead or alongside it, still feels scummy. That part won't change in my eyes.

I was on the fence with this game but ordered physical from a retailer because it was 20% cheaper than digital, missed out on Launch day VC due to delays in delivery but no big deal.
I have played each and every golf game since the late eighties & this game stands out for depth of gameplay. Some animations are horrible with the posture, set up & hand placement on the golf club but aside from that it’s got my attention for the foreseeable future. Must buy in my opinion.

Just a heads up on some Quests...

They seem to add and remove some Quests occasionally in the "Season" tab. There was an Arnold Palmer Invitational one last week that's now gone, replaced by ones for The Players Championship and some related to Tom Kim/the PGA Championship.

The annoying thing is that there are timed, since they seem to go away, yet there's no indication of how long you have to do them. It's extra frustrating because them being placed under the "Season" tab makes it seem like they should be there for all of Season 1.

Also, one of the Tom Kim ones is to shoot a round of 59 or better at the PGA Championship...

It feels like they have different people making some of these quests and no cross-referencing to make sure the rewards make sense. Like the cap you get for the Tom Kim quest looks nice, but instead of shooting a 59 at Quail Hollow you can alternatively get twice the VC and an Evo Tool by just using a Titleist club for 5 holes. Also if these are timed quests like the Bay Hill one, we should get a timer on them like we do for daily and weekly quests.

After playing a bit of career mode again, I really wish they had the option for the following:

Course Difficulty based on event type (Majors being the hardest)
Scoring Difficulty based on event type
Random Wind

I get around this by changing these up manually based on my event type, but it would be nice if there was an option to just have this automatically happen. It’s how it works in real golf and since the schedule is already there, we should have the option for it.

Yeah, he posted that a few days ago and went over it on one of his last streams, too. It's good to know and things seem better than was made it out to be in terms of VC gain and progression, but it's very frustrating that the Quest UI is hiding rewards and is very user-unfriendly. This kind of ties in to my last post about weekly removal of Quests in the "Season" tab.

Quests have been kind of a disappointment, especially in terms of the daily/weekly ones...they are basically Mad Libs that are randomized with a brand and a task with no thought to if it can actually be done (Play 10 rounds with a Mizuno golf ball - none of which are in the game now), or if you want to do it (something like 10 online rounds of TopGolf or Divot Derby, for example).

There are none in the game.
