I also just got $30 for it on ebay.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?
I haven't picked the game up much in the last while, but mainly because I'm a minor racing fan compared to the time I'm putting into WE8, MVP and College Hoops.
Just wondering why everyone (meaning 4 people) have traded it in?Comment

1. It's not nearly the racing game I thought it would be. TOCA 2 beats it as a racing game. Forza is a better driving game. But the racing AI offline isn't the greatest.
2. It's becoming a dick magnet online. It's very tough to find a room of clean, fair racers online. There's always at least one or two sh*theels ruining the fun. All apologies to the younger guys in here, but Forza is becoming the Castle Wolfenstein of racing games: It's getting overrun with sh*t-talking teens who must run the top car in each class online. If I saw another D class race filled with Honda CRX's, I think I would puke. What's the point of having 200 cars if everyone wants to run the same 10 or 15 cars across the game online?
3. It's another Gran Turismo clone, just like Sega GT and many others. Yes, Microsoft added some different things to this game, such as the Drivatar, a damage model, online career racing, smarter (but not great) racing AI. But at its core, Forza remains a car-collecting and tuning game, just like Gran Turismo. The heart of the game remains buying cars and tricking out their paint jobs, buying parts and tuning. The racing almost feels equal or even secondary at times. I want to race, not shop for cars and tune.
4. No cockpit or hood cam. I knew this coming in and thought I could deal with it. But Forza has proven, once and for all, that I must have a cockpit or roof/hood cam with my racing games. I can't stand behind views or front bumper cams. It feels like you're driving a camera with the front bumper cam, not a car.
Forza is a very good game, online and offline. TOCA 2 is a GREAT game, online and offline. I'm sticking with TOCA 2.
Take care,

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?
Yeah, sounds like some of the gripes I have.
My two main ones:
1. Racing AI (as you mentioned)- I'm just tired of being run off the road by raging computer drivers. Perhaps I would be ok with this I lived in a city of aggresive drivers like New York or Montreal. But as it is, I live in Vancouver now, a city where drivers slow down to a hault on highways to let ducks pass.
2. General atmosphere- I wish the game had some sort of winner's circle, or something that rewarded you for coming in first. I feel like I'm racing for no point other than to move up levels. I'd love to see some sort of tournament with other AI drivers, a world ranking board, etc- basically something to make me feel like I'm a part of a semi-realistic driving world.Comment

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?
Exactly, JYD. The racing in Forza is a means to buy more cars, not a means to an end.
I want to race to race, race to win, race to compete, not race so I can get credits to buy more cars.

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?
Which is why I cannot wait until Project Gotham 3. Still to this day, PGR2 was the most fun I've ever had online in a racing game. TOCA 2 a close second, but I personally preferred the street courses of PGR2.Comment

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?
i dont understand why anyone would sell Forza. It is one of the best games of all time, and certainly one of the best on the Xbox. It is certainly the best RACING game of all time. GTR on the PC is good, but IMO - it still doesnt touch Forza.Comment

Forza is the best of the "Gran Turismo niche" of games in which licensed car collecting and customizing are just as important as racing. But granted, that's a pretty small niche with the four Gran Turismo games, Enthusia and Sega GT.
I've never played GTR, but I think you might be the only person on the planet who puts Forza ahead of it, based on what I've read. You're also forgetting the PC monster racing game known as Grand Prix Legends, which I have played and is far superior to Forza.
Forza is a very good racing game. But the best racing game of all time? Uh, no.

GTR is a great game, but there are only around 20 cars to choose from (not counting different versions of the same cars). Myself, i need more options than that. The racing is really good in GTR, but it isnt that much better to make up for the lack of cars. Actually, i have both games and spend quite a lot of time on each of them. They are both very good racing games.
As far as Toca - it didnt really apeal to me very much after playing Forza. maybe i didnt give it enough of a chance. Toca spent maybe 5 hours in my XBOX, while i cant take Forza out of the hardrive.Comment

Oh and btw Forza, while a great game, does not even come close to GTRs simulation of real-time day and night transitions, MoTeC Telemetry (if you're into this sort of thing), spanning cockpit view, and very distinguished engine sounds. It also has a great 'arcade' mode which levels out the learning curve. The two games aren't on the same planet.Comment

A game can have 700 cars, like Gran Turismo 4, and still be a sh*t racing game. GT 4 is a good driving game, but its brain-dead AI and lack of damage model make it a hideous racing game.
