For the first time, I really "get" what racing enthusiasts are all about. While toca might not simulate car physics and feel quite as accurately as forza, it does a far better job in capturing the excitement of racing.

The races are filled with drama.......Having neck and neck battles without someone running you off the road for no reason is great. I also love the 21 car battles- Feels more like a real pro race rather than some casual competition between 8 guys.

To me, this game is like WE8....I'm becoming a fan of the sport because of it.
GREAT post that accurately describes why TOCA 2 is a better game than Forza. Glad you're having fun with TOCA 2!

I still race online with it weekly and pull it out for offline races at least once or twice per week. TOCA 2 never fails to satisfy.

    Take care,

I have to agree with you here, PGR2 owned me for several months. I could literally race online all day with that game and not get tired of it. For awhile there, I was almost unbeatable at some tracks. I dust it off occassionally and jump online, but now I mostly get dusted by the kids that are still playing it and have ridiculously high Kudos ratings.

TOCA2 was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed the offline career mode, and playing on line was a decent diversion. If you enjoy racing games, you should definitely own this game.

I'm not sure what happened with Forza, I picked it up when it came out, really enjoyed for about a week, and haven't touched it since. The same thing happened when I bought Rallisport Challenge 2. The games are impressive technically, but once you get past the "wow" factor, they become more of a grind. Forza is currently in my queue of games to be traded in.

I could care less about MotoGP3, but I expect Nascar 06 to steal my life away at the end of this month. Cheers.

Re: Anyone know the tradein value of Forza?

I'm away for a while and everybody jumps ship! LOL

I must admit, after playing Forza a ton at first, I lost a lot of interest in it. One reason is that I got GTR on my PC (which is fantastic, and blows Forza and a lot of other games away hands down IMO). The other is that I'd have a blast testing a car and getting it set up for a track, only to go online and get wiped out in the first turn by some joker who has no idea what a brake point is. After a few races of limping my car around the track, it gets old ya know? I agree that it is more of a driving game than a racing game. I still have it, and probably won't trade it in, but it's days as my Xbox addiction are over.

I have Toca Race Driver 1 and 2, and they are a blast. (I mainly still keep Toca 1 so I can race any car on any track.) The Toca games are about racing, which is what I'm more into, rather than the "modding" part of it. Gimmie a car, let me get it set up, and let me race.

GTR is my favorite at the moment, and I'm having a blast with it. I haven't gone online with it yet, but the AI is very good so I'm in no hurry. Plus, there are a ton of tracks people have made for it, most of which are very good. I think I have around 40 tracks on my PC at the moment. I just got a fantastic 24 Hours of LeMans one, that includes the current track, and the 1990 one without the chicanes on the straight (talk about fast, wow!) The whole Motec thing is daunting, but if you get one of the guides people have made for it online, it's a very interesting addition. The amount of information it gathers is staggering. I can't recommend GTR enough.

Another of my most played racing games is Grand Prix Legends, which still holds up well today. I think I have 80 or so tracks on my PC for it, and well over a hundred total that I've downloaded and burned on a CD. There have been a lot of mods for graphics and sounds to make it look almost as good as current racers. In fact, what I did was to install the game fresh and patch it up, then downloaded the "GPL 2004" demo, I think from Blackhole Motorsports (3DGamers.com had it too). After setting up the demo, I just copied all the sound and graphic files over to the main game and viola, all nice and pretty in a few easy steps!

And for rally fans, Richard Burns Rally is the bees knees. It is hard as heck (it's the GPL of rally games), but very cool. You can actually learn a few things about the sport by playing the game, a very good sign in my book. Also, it's coming to the Xbox in the US (it's been on it in Europe for a while), and I think it's only going to cost $20. I'll be picking it up for the Xbox too, hopefully it will be fully Live enabled. (Thats the good thing about rally games on Xbox Live; since you're the only car on the track you don't have to worry about some yucklehead booting you off the track. Of course, there's still the little matter of all the trees....)

It's a shame that Forza lost it's luster so quickly, but at least MS has a solid foundation for future racing games.
