There are jaggies, but in truth I only really notice them when I look for them, and I'm not a huge graphics guy anyway, so they don't bother me. Graphics are impressive enough for me.

After a day with the game, let me tell you all that FM2 is a deep, deep racing game which may just be one of the most enthralling experiences in a racing game I've ever had on a console. Sure, there was the "wow" factor when I popped open Gran Turismo for the first time, but, in comparison, I'd say the first night of customizing and playing online in Forza 2 probably takes the cake as being just as good, if not better than my first night playing GT1 on PSX. The livery editor is extremely, extremely deep. I was able to create, in three hours (too MUCH time, by the way), a NASCAR-esque Buffalo Sabres Chevrolet Cobalt (featured in the new "Forza 2 Paints" topic). The career mode seems a lot harder than the previous Forza title, and the new online features are definitely worth their inclusion...the Auction House was a great idea on paper and it's executed well, with live bidding ala eBay and "email messages" interrupting your game or menu scrolling saying that you have either been outbid or won. Like eBay, there is a Buyout price, so that if you see a car that exceeds your heart's desires, you can pick it up without having to worry about bidding.

Online play has been hitch-free other than a few wacky teleports I've seen (which can be fixed with an auto-update down the road), and does its best to retain a steady 60 FPS. Speaking of the increased framerate, it dramatically improves the transition from FM1 to FM2. 60 FPS, contrary to what Hilary over at IGN said in his review, actually ENHANCES the feeling of speed, whether you're in a Class D or Class S.

The car upgrading system is also, in my mind, changed for the better with the addition of powertrain swaps...Not sure if this can be done in the game, but a player online in one of the races I participated in said that he fitted a Civic with an S2000 engine...if that's true, every car in the game can potentially be a juggernaut both online and off.

In closing (and I'll keep this short and sweet), it's DEFINITELY worth the purchase. Turn 10 chose to improve on certain nuances of the game that were bogging FM1 down and exceeded my expectations with FM2. Period.

have not picked mine up yet but allegedly there is an update on LIVE when you first load the game that is a fix for the demo-jaggies. they should be (are) less then the demo.

As for comparisons the GT-HD, they are only rendering 1 car at a time in that "tech demo" and are not doing nearly the AI and physics calcs that FM2 does. so although eye candy may be better than FM2 even when more cars and AI and such are added, I'll wait to play it to see how it compares.

Don't drive when your sleep deprived. Slammed my mini full speed into a wall, needless to say it was pretty screwed for the rest of the race. Kinda fun in a way to try and limp a mini around a track with the steering/transmission totally screwed.

I only played about 1.5 hours, but I'm absolutely hooked. I LOVE playing with the MS wheel. Being able to "feel" out curves with the wheel, snapping through the gears with the paddle shifters, and feathering the brake and gas with my feet. So much more engrossing than using the standard controller. This game will keep me busy for quite awhile. I haven't even raced online, yet.

The Maple Valley Raceway is one beautiful track. I guess it's because I love Autumn, but running at such a smooth framerate and the colors makes it really look great.

Theres a few things I wish they would have added this time around. First, more than 7 ai cars on the track. Why not bump it up like TOCA or GTR? Also, I would love to have practice and and qualifications for the races, as this is supposed to be a race simulator and practice to get your setup is crucial. Besides that, its a blast to play, and painting your car is too much fun.

Hey, if you wreck your car in a race, is it permanently wrecked? Or does it "magically" fix itself once the race is finished?

Do you have to pay to have it fixed?

After reading the impressions I am back on the fence as far as picking this game up.
Is it still worth it for someone not all that interested in cars, customization and tuning?

Yes, like Kashanova said, you can have your car repaired for cosmetic damage and it comes out of your total earnings for Career mode. However, if you have any sort of mechanical damage, pitting during a race will solve any errors. My engine was smoking numerous times after some heartwrenching crashes online last night (and unfortunately did the same on the Nurburgring where there isn't a pit for 10 minutes) - and pitting solves most, if not all, of your mechanical damage if you have Simulation Damage turned on.

However, I damaged my car numerous times in several races, and yes, it "magically fixes itself" after every race. Maybe an auto shop in Forza 3 may be the way to add some greater realism.

Yes that is the snap photo from the game. I shrank the photo down to post it but other than that it's straight from the game.

Yes you can upload right to the forza 2 website from in the game. It's an awesome feature. It's tied to your gamer tag. The site lists out some of your stats and shows the photo's you have taken. You should check the site out. It's cool.

What was great in World of outlaws on ps2/PC was that if u didnt have the money to fix your car, you had to race with a banged up ride. Really makes you think twice about slamming into other cars. I wish someone would offer this again, becuase it really adds a ton of depth to the game, and makes it realistic.
