Re: Official: who has Forza 2 with impressions only please

just picked it up. love it.

Just curious how you guys were handling gift cars in career mode? I've already unlocked:

    1968 Shelby Mustang GT-500KR
    1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28
2000 Acura VIS Racing Integra Type-R

Should I sell these and upgrade my car?

lol well I just assumed that since they gave it to you so early in the game that it was easy to get.

I don't think the gift cars have any value (or minimal value like 100CR). So there's not really a point to selling them. I started in Europe and unlocked an old Porsche 914 and an old Jaguar. I'll probably mess around with them later, but right now I want to get a decent car in each class. So I'll focus my funds there for now.

Apparently, prize cars' sell value is drastically reduced. As such the auction block is currently flooded with them (including my Shelby Mustang GT500).

Don't sell them offline cuz you won't get anything for it. Go to the auction house if you wanna dump it for any sort of value.

For me atleast, I've found it easier to drive the cars in Forza 2 with the hand controller. I've actually turned faster laps this way but that's probably because I have'nt given the wheel enough time. With that said, the regular controllers should keep you competitive online. I believe most people use the wheel for a more realistic racing experience any way.

I will conquer my wheel weaknesses. This game is way to good and I want as realistic of an experience as possible.

My biggest problem with using the wheel thus has been over braking or not braking enough. I find myself over shooting the turn or slowing to a crawl way too often!!! TCrouch posted his wheel settings a few posts back, so I'll load those up and see if that helps.

I'm not the slightest of racing fan, but this game is very consuming on and off line.

Ok, I'm getting used to the wheel now. Playing it with the first person camera and using the wheel, with surround sound on, very immersing. Totally hooked now.

Which is why I can drive them in the game. I just don't have a good enough feel of the speed and power of these cars. Plus the fact that the gas pedal is to weak and I spin out with the rear wheel drive cars. I'm going to put some shocks or some rubber foam under the pedals to help.

                                Scoreboard, Auction and Tournament Glitches

So, the good news is, lots of you are playing Forza 2 and putting in untold numbers of man years into the game. The bad news is, no matter how much we could have tried to test for bugs and glitches in the game prior to shipping it out the door, there was no way we could have had over 100,000 players test the game for as many hours as you already have put into Forza 2. As a result, bugs we couldn't reproduce (but did encounter once on a fluke chance) with a group of 100 testers have reared their ugly heads multiple times.

So here's an attempt to address all of the most common problems experienced by Forza 2 players that we've seen so far, in no particular order:
                                • Questions about the pre-order code for Nissan Fairlady Z or the appearance of LCE cars in the Auction House? I talk about this in detail in this post.

                                • Don't know how to swap between the 360 wheel and the controller without having to reset your console? Look here for a tutorial.

                                • The Time Trials scoreboard glitch involving a handful of players with unrealistic lap times on Test Track King Cobra is a known issue and we are working to rectify this. The bug involves AI takeover of your car even after the rolling start, and then the uploading of a corrupted scoreboard entry time that's in the ridiculous .002 to .006 second range. To be sure, this isn't the work of any cheating or exploits -- the four players (so far) who have encountered this bug are definitely victims and not glitchers. We're going to remove these corrupted scoreboard records from the Time Trials scoreboard and issue an apology to those who have encountered this bug. We realize it can be frustrating to have potentially logged a fast lap only to encounter a bug. That said, it looks as if Test Track King Cobra is the only track with this error. We'll be monitoring this phenomena closely.

                                • Some of you may have encountered an unfortunate bug in Auction House where you fail a transaction and then suddenly realize that none of your money has returned to you. For a detailed explanation on what this issue is and how to avoid it, Turn 10 Auction House dev Mr. Badfrog Olsen has posted a helpful memo in our auction house forums. The good news is that we do have a fix in the pipeline and will be rolling this out on the server side ASAP to nip this in the bud. In the meantime, Badfrog's advice is to not bid again immediately after you've failed a transaction.

                                • Ah lovely tournaments. This feature in the game has proven so popular it's been a most interesting stress test for our server farm here at MGS. In the days following the launch of Forza 2, we've had some stability issues with tournaments -- some have started, qualified for, gone into elimination rounds then suddenly canceled with little notice. We realize this is unacceptable and every time something like this happens, you lose hours of potential blood/sweat/tears (well, hopefully not blood). Which is why we will be rolling out several more fleets of servers to manage tournament server load. The good news is that the additional servers gives us the ability to put up more tournaments across more class spreads. The rollout and integration happens this weekend, so you sould see markedly better results by next week.

Again, thank you all for your patience as we iron out the kinks with Forza 2's online features. Although it's not an excuse, Forza 2 has some very complex community components (say that three times fast) and it took over 100,000 people playing non-stop for some of these bugs to crop up with any frequency. We'll be doing everything we can to address these issues in a timely manner to preserve the integrity of our community, and as always, I'll be here to let you know the status of things.
