Re: F1/IRL/All Other Forms of motorsports Thread

Thought I'd bump this one up again.

I don't know if the F1 fans we have here have seen this but Mike Gascoyne, who is the Chief Technical Officer for Lotus, has a twitter feed that he updates during race weekends, even during the race.

On a different note it seems Virgin didn't design a big enough fuel tank to get them to the end of the race. Thankfully the FIA is letting them redesign the car for a bigger tank.

      Good bump.

In case anyone wants to know... coverage of World Rally Championship events are being shown on HD Theater, and Speed TV is now showing highlights of races from the Australian V8 Supercars series.

The Australian Grand Prix is laughing in the face of those who say F1 is boring.

I am a F1-fan. But I don't watch it as much as I did for three reasons.

            1. F1 went to a channel that you have to pay for.

            2. It has started to be more and more boring. It was different in the end of the 90's and in the beginning of the 21st century. Back then there was much more overtakes, crashes, technical problems, drivers had to do more to keep the car on track. You never knew what was going to happen next. And of course those thrilling batlles between Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen. It started to be boring after 2005 season.

            3. No Finns in top teams. Heikki Kovalainen only Finn in the F1 right now and he is driving in a team that is miles behind the top teams. F1 was way more popular in Finland when Hakkinen and Raikkonen when on top, now that Raikkonen is in WRC, Heikki is our only change, we Finns need a winning Finn in F1. (And don't think Nico Rosberg as a Finn. He drives for Germany and he doesn't speak Finnish, sure he is a son of Keke Rosberg, but still not a Finn in our eyes)
I'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.

I understand what you are saying but try being an American F1 fan. We have no drivers period, but I am a fan of the sport first.

This morning's race was one of the best that I have seen in a long time. Maybe they should put water on all the tracks from here on out.

Yeah the race was entertaining. And I understand you aswell, but you are from country that doesn't produce as many top drivers to F1 than Finland. So we are used to our drivers being in podium, but this season will be a different story. I will follow this season more if the races are like they were today. That was good old racing with overtakes, crashes and more mistakes. It almost looked like F1 back in the times of Hakkinen.

Seabass? Bourdais hasn't raced in F1 in two years. He's in Superleague Formula this year.

Vettel is not nicknamed Seabass. Sebastien Bourdais was given that nickname when he raced in Champ Car during the mid-2000s.

No idea how long this will be up, but this is a replay of Sebastien Buemi's front suspension breaking during practice. Never seen anything like this before. Coulthard had something similar happen a few years back, but that was only one side, and only because he came over the backside of a curb. This happened under braking, and to both sides of the car.
