PSA: On the off-chance anyone else was trying to DVR British GP Qualifying or Race and was confused, the race is live on CNBC instead of NBCSN due to Tour de France. Qualifying can only be seen live on NBC Sports Live online. NBCSN will have replays a few hours after Qualifying and the race though.

Blown tires are the story of that race. Pirelli are going to have a meeting Wednesday with the FIA. I'll hold my breath on something coming out of that. Something needs to be done, but it's not like they didn't know that already.

Glad Rosberg held on to win, because without the safety cars, he had a good gap built over everyone else. Vettel retires with 10 laps to go, gearbox failure. I'll try to feel bad for him. Webber confirms he is leaving F1 at the end of the year. The speculation over his replacement will be a nagging story line for months.

It's about time Vettel had some bad luck this year.

It looks like Speed is dropping all of their motorsports content aside from their NASCAR stuff (CWTS mostly) in their transition to becoming Fox Sports 1. Although not unexpected, it is still kind of sad. Of course, Speed had become a bit of a joke with shows like R U Faster Than a Redneck?, Pimp My Ride, etc., but still, I enjoyed some of American Le Mans Series, V8 Supercars, etc. that they showed on occasion.

They're really dropping the Rolex Sports Car Series? It's NASCAR owned and just merged with ALMS. Figured Fox would try and keep France happy, but guess not. Most of the ALMS races are on ESPN and ABC any way... so maybe Rolex could go there.

Hmm... I am not sure. They may be keeping it since it's NASCAR owned. The Australian V8 Supercars, sprint cars, etc. appear to be gone, anyhow.

Shockingly, Pirelli blamed the teams for their own blowouts, saying it was because they didn't mount the tires correctly and the tire pressure was too low. So apparently half the teams almost dont know how to inflate tires or put them on properly is what we're supposed to believe. Also, they put tires only designed to be on the right back on the left, so they don't know right from left either.

Yet, despite the fact that Pirelli takes minimal to no blame, they will go back to the kevlar for this weekend in Germany and back to the 2012 version for Hungary and beyond.

Mock Pirelli all you want, but that's not new information. Been known for awhile now that teams have been putting tires on the 'wrong' side for better performance. And while I can't say for sure, I'd guess the same is true for the low pressures, simply because it's something that happens in racing all around the world.

Pirelli admit they knew teams were switching the tires and didn't outlaw it. If they thought it could cause that many blowouts in one weekend than they should have, which they admit. I mock them because it's a joke that this is really the only racing series with this many tire problems. If their tires can only handle one exact tire pressure then they should outlaw changing that as well. It's silly that races have the result sometimes more to do with who managed tires better than who could actually race faster. There's no other racing series with anywhere near this kind of tired degradation. So yes I will mock Pirelli

Because that's part of racing. Managing and getting the most out of your car.

The teams knew they were running the tires outside of the specifications Pirelli gave, and they should accept the consequences that come with that action. If you swap tires and they fail, well, tough, you knew they weren't designed to run that way and you did it anyway. Run the pressure too low and they fail? Tough luck.

There's no reason to treat tires any different than you would other parts on a car. If you run something too hard and it fails, you (generally speaking) don't get to whine and ask for changes. You make changes, whether in the setup or the drivers seat, and you get on with it.

Kind of like Indycar, right? And Nascar for that matter, although I believe they're having fewer issues this year.
