    Soeed trap for Le Mans.

    Peugeot: 211.8 mph
    Porsche GT2: 178.0 mph

That's one heck of a closing speed.

Why not make it three posts in a row.

Team USF1 was confirmed by the FIA to be one of the entrys for F1 next season. Be great to watch a US based F1 team, even if it is one of the budget teams.

Any rumors about who is going to be the driver, Patrick, Speed, someone else?

Re: F1/IRL/All Other Forms of motorsports Thread

No serious rumors. The problem USF1 is going to have is they've always said they want American drivers in the seat and we just don't have that many talented drivers who would want to drive an F1 car.

I can't see Speed going back to F1 as he is pretty comfortable in Nascar and he's probably still got a bitter taste of F1. They might choose Danica, if she even wants to drive the car, based strictly on a PR move, but I don't know if she's got the skills.

Jonathan Summerton has been mentioned as he's driven for the US team in A1GP, but his problem is name recognition. I'm not sure if USF1 is going to want to put a driver in a car that most Americans have never heard of.

You also have Marco Andretti and Graham Rahal who I believe have both tested an F1 car.

I'd pick Rahal and Summerton as the likely candidates, but that's not based on any fact or rumor. Just who I think they would choose out of the American drivers I've heard mentioned.

Yeah, now that NASCAR has really blossomed into a money-filled sport, I don't think we'll see too many American drivers going into Indy or F1 anymore. I mean, right now we see some great F1 and Indy drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya come over to NASCAR and do pretty mediocre as compared to how he did in F1, but stay put in NASCAR simply because the paycheck is so much better.

Isn't Kyle Busch scheduled for an F1 test or already had one? Let him go over there and smash their trophies, see how that goes over.

He's far from what I would consider a great F1 driver.

Montoya is in NASCAR because nobody in F1 would give him a job. The same goes for Scott Speed.

According to Forbes he made $11 million last year. The average F1 salary is about $9 million and given the experience he would have, he could easily be making $20 million plus.

To put it in perspective, from the same Forbes article, Jr. made about $35 million last year, Jeff Gordon made about $30 million, Jimmie Johnson $23 million and Smoke made $19 million . Kimi Raikkonen pulls in about $50 million a year in salary and Fernando Alonso about $35 million. Michael Schumacher made more in his last year of racing, around $80 million, than any athlete at the time other than Tiger Woods.

NASCAR wouldn't let him go because of the awards banquet.

He'd have to finish a race first.

I guess I have to plead ignorance on Montoya. For some reason, I was under the impression that he was a pretty good F1 driver. I knew he won the Indy 500 nine years ago. I guess not, though.

I guess that shows my level of knowledge (or lack thereof) of F1.

I'm trying to catch more F1 races this year, though, as I do find them pretty entertaining. I hate how they always come on at weird times, though, since most of them are overseas.

I see that Parker Kligerman won the ARCA race at Michigan today. I meant to watch it, but I forgot. Oh well.

Don't get me wrong he wasn't horrible or anything, I'm just taking issue with your use of the word "great". It'd be like calling a Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick or Greg Biffle a great Cup driver. No NASCAR fan would say that, just like no F1 fan would call Juan Pablo a great F1 driver.

None of them are terrible obviously and if you put them in a good car and they'll be near the front, but they'll still struggle at times.

I nevered cared for NASCAR because I had a pre-concieved image of it's "typical" fan. At least the ones that actually show up to the track and what I percieved of the culture. Seems I may have been correct according to a recent story on ESPN

It's hard to believe one of the Audi R15s (#3 car) has crashed so soon in the Le Mans race. These cars are perenially heavy favorites to finish first in the P1 class (along with Peugeot 908) and usually go flag-to-flag. Looks to me like the driver Premot had some issues fighting the Aston Martin DBR9 for position prior to going off track.

The SpeedTV stream is great looking. I was expecting a small screen that had horrible resolution, but this is pretty nice.
