    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

New Tire Model is OUTSTANDING on the speedways.

Started 14th in my first NW race at Texas, and just kept my focus on conserving the tires. We had like 15 caution laps out of the first 25, but then we ended up with a HUGE green flag run.

I let some guys go and ended up reeling them back in, and found myself running 7th with 25 to go (still under green). I decided to split my focus between running smooth lines and being as easy with the throttle as I could be. Guys were talking about being 3 or 4 laps short on fuel.

Long story short, I got another 3 laps out of my fuel load and ended up running the fuel strategy to a 2nd place finish in the 2nd split. The top 4 cars all worked the fuel strategy to nab the top spots, while the hot dogs who were using up the tires and fuel were complaining about leading the whole race and then finishing outside of the top 5

Welcome to racing with strategy instead of hot lapping, boys...

Very nice! That's how I would win on NR2003 until the guys got savy and figured out how I was winning.

Nice job, Nick. I can't imagine winning in a field that strong. Hell, I can't imagine winning in general.

            Can I have that set?

That's what was so impressive...look at the field strength.

Look at Nick's iRating in general, lol

I have a tough time coming to grips with the fact that so many people are so much faster than me!!

I really LOVE the NTM, though, because you can easily overdrive the car, which hasn't been modeled in many racing games very well. I feel like I can always push it harder, but it's not always in my best interests to do so.

Yeah, I got done reading that about 20 minutes ago. It was a good read.

It was announced today that there will be no races at Lucas Oil Raceway Park formerly Indianapolis Raceway Park and that the Nationwide and the Rolex Sports Car series will be joining the cup series in racing at the Brickyard next year. So we need to get us a hosted session up and try out the Nationwide at the Brickyard. I'll host just tell me when you want it done.

I just finished one of the class A official races at Daytona. It had a pretty high strength of field and I forgot to qualify. 28 in the race and I started 24th ran my race and finished 4th. I'm pretty pissed about it too. I had the lead but 3 guys in the race was in a league together and worked together to get past me. That teammate crap really makes me mad. I had a chance on a restart with 12 to go or so I thought but the leader brake checked me then gunned it with the other 2 to get a good lead. I know it's just a game, lol but man I'm mad. Oh well didn't get no incidents and my iRating is now above 2000.

I hear ya, but that's the kind of stuff that I love. Sucks that you were on the wrong end of it, but it would be awesome for a bunch of us to end up in a race and go nose-to-tail to get by somebody else. Teamwork is where it's at
