That's part of my problem as well. I'm using an office chair, with my pedals shoved against my sub, which is shoved against the wall. Not the greatest setup in the world.

I'd love to get a full cockpit setup of some sort, but I don't have the room at the moment. Plus I think I'd rather upgrade my DFGT to something nicer before doing so and the nice wheels are expensive.

I'm using 78 FOV as well with a single monitor. I'm pretty sure I was using 68-70 before, but I attempted that and can't do it these days. I imagine I'll slowly try to creep back down to around there again.

I am in top-split with Abrams. Looks like RutgersKev isn't racing tonight. I think Michael Dewell might also stream on Twitch and he's in the race.

Time to see how 50 FOV goes. Qualifying was okay, but a tenth or two off what I probably should have run, but I always screw up qualifying, so no surprise there.

          http://www.twitch.tv/teamabrams is streaming. I'm spectating.

I almost joined as your spotter, but I don't have a mic so that'd be kind of pointless.

once you set your fov to the correct number based on the iracing calculator you can edit your seat position by opening the camera editor.

Pause the replay in cockpt view.

Then hit ctrl-F12 to open the camera editor.

Changing the X value will move you forwards and backwards, the z up and down. save camera view per car.

Well, I ran top 10 for much of the race, which surprised me, but I hit the wall coming onto pit road after locking up my tires with around 50 to go. The car was pretty beat up after that. I got a yellow and was able to repair the 44 seconds of optional damage, but it was a bit down on top-speed for the rest of the race. I restarted 15th on the final restart with around 20 to go and worked my way up to 12th with a final-corner pass. I think I had a really good shot at a top 10 if I hadn't done myself in, but oh well. It's rare I have top 10 speed in the top split. I'm usually stuck in 15th-20th and just let guys wreck out.

I think the 50 FOV might have helped.

400 miles is a little too long, though. My butt was sore by halfway.

I would have been asleep at the wheel with about 60 to go. There were a lot of cautions early, but sounds like that isn't uncommon.

                  Re: iRacing after 2+ years

I went back to rookie street stock after trying everything else out the last few nights. Man, USA speedway was a wreckfest a few minutes ago. I finished in 6th after being spun on 2 seconds into the race before the first turn. Some guy cut up, hit another car and came down and hit me into another car. Ridiculous driving. Absolutely no awareness.

Then halfway through the race I gave up the inside to a car ahead of me and the guy at first went low, then stopped turning and went straight into me and spun me and then disconnected. It looked like a hardware or internet issue.

I was also accused of ruining a guy in 1st place's race. He came up on me after I was spun. I conceded the inside and never got within 5 feet of his car. He touched the apron and spun himself when we were nearly 10 feet apart. He comes over the chat and says I ruined his race. Lol, it's not my fault I was 10 feet from you car staying high and you can't stay off the apron. The guy averages nearly 8 incidents a race when I checked his profile so I am guessing it isn't a rare occurrence for him. He has over 350 races and is a D2.10 with 8 inc/race. Pretty bad.

                    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Yea, same thing happened to me in the C-class USA race last night. A guy went on the inside of me to make the pass, I gave him room, he went on the apron and lost it. My friend was spotting me and reassured me, I wasn't close to him and gave him plenty of space. The difference in C and rookie? He said it was his fault and not mine and apologized to those that got caught up behind him in something.

I hated USA on rookie. I couldn't drive it well myself and everyone else was wrecking, but on C, I surprised myself with a 23.9 in warmups. Race was up and down. I got freight trained early on and fell back to 15th, but recovered to finish 9th making a couple passes and attrition ahead of me moved me up a few spots. It's just so hard to pass sometimes. I feel like I'm faster, I can get on the gas sooner, etc. but they don't give me a good enough line to do it and I just have to wait for mistakes. That's real racing, though, where you're faster, but not so much faster than you can just pass them on the straightaway.

I made it about 80 laps before I stopped watching. You were running pretty well from what I could see. Seemed like you lost ground on the restarts, but I was pretty terrible with those in my race so I shouldn't be saying anything.

You guys could have been three wide there and neither one of you would have had to move. So yes, plenty of room.

I just came back after 3-4 years away (other than the occasional one month stint). Hopefully at some point we'll get an OS race going. If we can get enough people, there should be enough variance in speed for everyone to enjoy themselves.

How are you liking the pedals? I picked up a set this week, but didn't have a chance to run them as the brake pedal came messed up and they are already on their way back to Fanatec for an exchange. I had a set of the original Clubsports that I enjoyed, but didn't really want to wait a few more months for the V3s to come out.

I put myself on the waiting list for the ProtoSimTech pedals, but at their current rate of production, those could be a couple years down the line. Hopefully the CSR Elite's last me awhile until I can save up to get a nice set.

I guess that's what I get for using Jeff Gordon's Rainbow Warriors paint scheme.
