Bumped him for a 4x but was able to keep going and get 7th. That car is fun! Seems like a good place to start learning a bit about setups as if I could get it just a little looser out of 4, I might be able to run consistent 23.5's instead of the occasional and could run top 5.
I haven't races tour mod yet, really need to. Really liked the SK.

Have you checked out "Sim Setup Analyzer"? It's got a 14 day trial but costs $20 for oval cars only or $30 for both oval and road. Can find info at http://setupanalyzer.com/srsa.html I've used it a bit for small changes in the truck and xFinity car. Works pretty good. You tell it whether car is loose or tight and it gives you suggestions on things to change.

Might give that a try and see what I can get out of it. $20 to help with setups isn't too bad if it helps me here. Now I see how Chaos has spent so much money on this game.

I've always thought about trying out the setup analyzer, but I haven't yet.

Looks like a nuclear bomb went off in the off topic section of the iRacing forums due to iRacing announcing some new anti-cheat software next build. Great drama.

I've always wondered how prevalent cheating is in a game like this.

Forum drama is always fun. This is the best time for forum reading. You get the new schedule, you get whatever new random thing (like the cheat detection) iRacing announces, and then we get the build notes in a few weeks which will lead to more flipping out over everything. Always enjoyable reading.

I've always assumed that there's a few people in the top splits and in DWC are cheating (especially the latter given the money at stake). Maybe it's not happening, but I can't imagine iRacing would be doing this new cheat protection if whatever they are doing behind the scenes takes care of things.

As someone in the topic on the cheating thing said, it'll be interesting to see if any of the top guys drop iRating and/or stop racing because of it.

I saved 2 tenths right off from trying it. However, getting much more than that is going to take some more work. You really have to know where and how much the car is off because the next thing it wants me to do always makes me bad loose out of turn 2. It's solution to fix it? Reverse what it just told me to fix the tightness out of 4. So coarse adjustments, it seems good. Fine tuning? I'll see what I can get out of it over the next few days. If it gets me running consistent low 23's, I might get a win out of it and it is worth every penny.

And it can only help me with trucks and the sprint cup cars. I cannot do those fixed races. I'd much rather learn to setup the car to my driving than try to force myself into their fixed mold and hope I can drive it. How fast the car got hard to drive at Michigan makes me think spending the hours on setups could make open worth it.

Just finished up a Gen6 fixed race at Phoenix. No video as something about Phoenix really kills my FPS and the recordings end up really choppy. Guessing I need to lower some settings to smooth things out.

Anyway, I started 4th and finished 11th as the 9 car. Still gained 4 iRating so yay for that. Race didn't start out so great as we had 3 cautions in the first 20 or so laps, but we went green the rest of the way from there. Just like at Michigan, I managed to burn my tires up and dropped a few places over the run. Kept hoping for a caution but it never came. Think I got the "your RF tire is wearing out" message with about 5 to go.

I did rear end a guy on the last restart going into three, but luckily he managed to save it and actually went on to win the race.

Have members always been able to use higher level cars (Say a rookie with then Gen6) in practice sessions or is this a new thing? Saw a rookie in my practice session last night. Guy was actually pretty quick, but he's only done 3 rookie races.

On another note, I wish there was some way to see when other cars pit last and how many tires they took. Even if it was a spotter message about the car in front or behind of you.

I always thought you could only "test" cars above your license level. Unless it's carb cup where that's open to everybody.

Thank you. I'll have to give it a try at some point.

Anyways, with the off week, I am going to race in the Winter NiS Fixed Fun race tonight (a league I races a few races in this winter... I'd have liked to have raced more, but I couldn't make a lot of the races). It should be fun. It's at Las Vegas, which I haven't done a race at before aside from last year in the NiS, where my router died.

Did another race at Phoenix. Superjames was also in the race.

Didn't start so great as I was screwing around with OBS and managed to crash iRacing right before the race started. DOH! That caused me to miss the start so instead of starting 6th or so I was 15th or so and in the pits. Got lucky with a couple early cautions and made it up into the top 10. More cautions happened (Woo iPacing!) and I ended up having a "racin' deal" with the guy on my outside where he stayed a little low probably and I went too high and the contact caused me to slam the inside wall. No yellow plus engine damage and 7 minutes of repairs and my race was over.

Seems like I've got pure speed at Phoenix in the Gen6, but just can't find consistency or the ability to run side-by-side with another car. Not very comfortable as of yet, and I'm guessing Darlington is only going to be worse. Whee.

Big junk happened which somehow took out nearly all of the rest of the field occurred on the restart after you retired, Chaos. I somehow ended up 6th despite a beat up car. Frustrating, but oh well. That was a surprising strong field for a non-splitting race. Too bad the racing was pretty awful with all the cautions. It seems that pinching is always a problem with the new Phoenix.

Darlington is sure to be a joy.

How Easy is it for a newbie to get into Iracing? I'm thinking of trying the free trials and maybe take advantage of the cut price membership at the minute. I'm really not sure how the whole setup works!

Got my DK2 today. I haven't been able to get it to work with iRacing yet (iRacing supports an older version which isn't supported by windows 10) but I loaded it up in Project Cars today.

                                WOW.

Some of the stuff other people have said is true, the resolution is lower and there is a screen door effect but even noting that it is so much better to run things in VR as opposed to my three screens. I still need to get used to using it, my spacial awareness isn't what it was with three screens but I did a race and finished 18th out of 20 and it was still a blast.

If you get a chance to get the consumer version I would recommend it based on the DK2.
