Sure, tell me this AFTER my engine goes boom. But really, that's good to know. This is the first time since I've been back that I had serious damage that didn't end my race right away.

    Live and learn, right?

Hard to tell what if Ray trying to save tires versus this being actual falloff, but it's still nuts. Class A fixed at Chicagoland.

I had a dumb self-spin early on, though. Don't think I've done that since last year at Richmond.
Thanks to being unable to sleep, I had time to watch your race. I thought I had issues, but you made my race look nice and clean.

I suspect I would have rage quit and wanted to break something after you got caught up with that car that hit? the wall and spun to the inside. Also not sure I would have the patience to make all those pit road stops. Impressive finish after all that.

I made my A Open debut last night at 6:30. Over all not a bad race. Had a mid pack car but got damaged when a car spun and instead of staying stopped til I got around him, decided to whip it around right in front ne. I locked up brakes to try and stop but couldn't. Got some pretty good damage on the front.

Went 3 laps down the in the process. Got back out and was running laps and with about 5 to go, motor blows. Not really sure what caused that. All gauges looked good.

Ended up coming home 13th 16 laps down. Overall not bad. Some nice long green flag racing. Had nothing for the front runners though.

Just won a Class A Fixed race.

Wasn't my greatest race, and it took some major luck at the end, but I'll take it. First win on iRacing in 4 years. It was the second split, but probably more enjoyable than getting my butt kicked by a couple DWC drivers in the top split.

Anyone racing tonight? I'm about to jump in and do some practice laps for the 9 pm race. I haven't been on yet this week, so it'll be interesting to see how the NSM works with Chicagoland.

Not me. Watching Chiefs/Broncos tonight, but I'll still have the race up in one form or another.

I am planning on racing Sunday.

Gotcha. I'll be racing tonight. Just ran a 29.527 in Q, which seems pretty fast and is a PB lap for me. Maybe I'll get a top 10 start tonight. It's going to be about saving tires, in any case, and not overdriving the corners.

                    Top 10 start indeed.

Looks like there's a bunch of DWC guys in the field tonight. That should make things interesting.

Well, that went well. Someone got loose in front of me and sent me into the inside wall. I had 4 1/2 minutes of damage and only got a couple minutes of it fixed to stay on the lead lap. Mistake. The engine blew after about 15 laps, even though I wasn't all that far off the pace.

The engine will take 30 minutes to replace. If it looks like I can gain some positions, I'll get it fixed and head back out there, but we'll see. Otherwise, I'm looking at a dead last finish, which is lovely.

I was wondering what happened to you. I'm watching Abrams stream and saw you go flying off to the left. Wasn't sure if you hit the wall though.

Yeah, the guy in front of me hit the wall and I tried to go under him, but he bounced down and shot me off into the infield grass and into the wall on the backstretch. I guess I should have stayed high, but I didn't know he was going to bounce off the wall that far. Oh, well, it happens. I ended up 29th after gaining three positions after replacing the engine.

I might run the next A Fixed race. I didn't get to have much fun since I got wrecked out so early. Looks like I was able to get into the 29.3s in A Fixed practice.

I'll be there. Hopefully we get a decent sized field. I was going to run this race last night, but unregistered as only 10 others signed up and I didn't feel like having another boring race like I did at Darlington.

I'm a little tired, but I'm not sure if I'll get a race in this weekend before NiS and I'd like a little more race conditions practice. Need to figure out a better line once the tires wear off, as trying to run the bottom wasn't working very well.

Cool! I just put down a 29.318 in qualifying somehow. Looks like that's #4 on the leaderboard and just four one-hundredths off the top lap. I don't think I've ever nailed a qualifying lap quite like that.

Looks like another guy ran 29.3xx in the race we're coming into, though. I don't have a lot of long-run experience with the new build, so we'll see how the actual race goes. I know I got bulldozed on the start in the NiS race and lost about 10 positions in the first 10 laps, but I think I was a little timid racing 2- and 3-wide, so we'll see.

In the past, I was always prone to succumb to RF tire wear, so I need to try to avoid that.

Not that I expect New Hampshire and Dover to be any better the next two weeks, but Chicagoland can go youknowwhat itself.

Just noticed that since my race at Darlington where I had no incidents, I've averaged 8.5 per race. That's not exactly ideal.
