Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Anyone else running NiS tonight?
I actually managed to put together a nice qual lap with a 23.1xx. While not real fast, it's probably as good as I was going to get in a qual session. Hopefully the speed carries over to the race.
EDIT: 40th overall for the week and less than 2 tenths off anyone not named Matt Bussa. I'll take it.Last edited by Chaos81; 10-04-2015, 08:57 PM.Comment

I ran a 23.086 in Q, though I'm worried about burning off my RF during the race as it is something I have done here in the past.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Nice.
Surprisingly, I seemed to do okay with tire wear on Thursday. I wasn't really pushing, and it's easier to do that when you're up front, but I was still surprised, as when I tried a longer run in practice, I just burned the heck out of my tires.
Starting 2nd in my split. That's slightly terrifying.Last edited by Chaos81; 10-04-2015, 09:02 PM.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Don't know how, but my race went green for the final 150+ laps. Great fun, as I worked my way from 7th up to 3rd at the end, and I probably could have had 2nd had I pushed a little harder the last lap, but I also might have run out of gas and lost 3rd. I had 2 tenths of a gallon left at the end.
After the bad races I had at Chicagoland and Richmond, Dover was a blast. Wish we could race there again this week.
EDIT: Soooooo close.

Luza is just crazy good in these NiS-F races. He's practically unbeatable as of late.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
It's interesting to me that Dover of all places had the cleanest NiS races over the last couple months. Since Michigan probably, and that was what, mid-August? I guess there's been some tough tracks in there, and then Chicagoland was a mess with the set being way loose off 2/4 and people getting used to dynamic tracks so that probably explains it, but still, I was expecting a mess. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come as I like not wrecking.
Speaking of dynamic tracks, did you have to, or even try to change your line at all? After diamond the corner quite a bit early in the race, I think I was faster and had more grip if I stayed closer to the inside line. Not 100% down, but not going up as high as I was early. If I tried to diamond higher it seemed like I would just slide right up the track, especially in 1 and 2. First time I've really felt the track change like that with the new build, and I think it was due to the heat build up with our long green flag run.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Well, thanks to the way the playoff schedule is, there probably won't be any NiS racing for me this week. Definitely not making Thursday, and while Sunday might be possible, I'm not sure I'll make it home in time.
Here's another one of my races. Don't know if anybody is even watching them, but I'll keep posting my races until people tell me to stop.
NiS Race #2 at Dover. More fun. If you're short on time your best bet is to probably start with my second timestamp and watch the final 25 laps. No huge action, but probably the most enjoyable part to watch if you're not interested in long green flag runs.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I think I may sign up again for a month and pick up the Camaro, Kansas, and Talladega. Squeeze in some races around playoff baseball. Then see about the Black Friday deal later next month.
Any idea when they do the $75 gets you $100 in credits deals? It'd be nice to get that before I buy the rest of the Cup series tracks.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Probably going to be awhile as they just did one back in July or August.
If you think you're going to continue with iRacing far into the future, you can always buy the tracks, then take advantage of that deal when it comes and use it towards your subscription.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Good point. We'll see how next year goes. I plan on sticking more to trucks/Xfinity/Cup next year and I'll run the occasional lower race. If I feel like I'm improving, then I'll look at a longer membership, better wheel, pedals, etc.Comment

I got my CSS V1.5 today. I'm really excited to use it but I didn't have much time to mount it up today or anything so it is still sitting in the box waiting for Friday when I can get a chance to mount it up and try it out.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I haven't had any chance to race the last few days. Hoping to get in a little more practice and run a Class A race tonight. Wish they hadn't screwed up the schedule again and the races were at night like NiS is but oh well.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Gen6 Tip of The Day: Be careful on the front stretch at Charlotte with old tires.
Finished up a class A race at Charlotte, and it went well for the first 60 laps with me holding steady in 4th. Lap 61 I got loose in the tri-oval on old tires and ended up cutting someone off who had fresh tires. Led to him flying through the air, and me spinning across pit lane and getting an illegal pit lane entry. That led to me being put at the back, and then I forgot to let the lucky dog pass when pitting and I got a 30 second stop and go under green which put me two laps down.
Finished 14th which is tough to swallow after being comfortably in the top 5. I want to go back to Dover.Comment
