Good to see the new build rollout is going great as always.

I haven't had a chance to race in awhile with finals and stuff. I should be back on soon. I'm racing in this NiS-esque winter series on Monday nights, though I had to miss the past two weeks, so I am not really running for points. I figure I'll try to get back into some road racing over the coming weeks, as well.

        Re: iRacing after 2+ years

I haven't as much as fired up iRacing in a couple months. Might try some road stuff, but I'll probably hold off on oval until NiS starts back up. Might give the new McLaren a shot, but I suspect it's going to be just as crazy to drive as the Williams is.

Little disappointed with the build. I guess I can't blame them too much, but I was hoping for some changes on the physics side of things with the NASCAR vehicles. Suppose they're just waiting until the new season starts so they can get information on the new package.

That said, stuff like grass and dirt sticking to tires and getting blown off, plus the new particle system seems pretty cool. Hopefully we can actually see dirt and grass sticking to tires in the open wheel stuff.

Watched this guy stream for a bit. He was running the McLaren (Until he decided to try and switch cars). The new smoke and spark effects look pretty cool actually.

Did they update the NSM in a noticeable way with regards to running multiple grooves on oval tracks?

Not based on what I can tell from the release notes.

There is the first part of this, but I'm not sure that will make much of a difference since I never saw marbles anyway.

              - Marbles on the track are now immediately influenced by both the player car and opponent cars to better simulate the effect of following a car closely through debris.

              - Debris will collect on tires of the player car and then be flung off when appropriate. This means tires will continue to emit grass, gravel, dirt and marbles even after leaving the associated surface.

              - The in-Sim Info tab now displays actual average race-line temperature at the start of the session as the track temperature, to simulate a crew member taking some sample measurements with a temperature gun pointed at the track a few minutes before the session begins.

              - Improved the way the server broadcasts the track state by allowing it to adjust what it sends depending upon the current situation on a per-client basis.

              - Improved performance when the dynamic track is not being rendered by removing some unnecessary code.

On another note, here are the in-car adjustments for the McLaren. Looks like fun.

Same here. I just want to test the new F1 car.

Tried the new McLaren and the Nordschleife tonight. Remembered quickly that I don't like either one of those things (High downforce cars or the track) and quit.

                            I like the new McLaren.

I went back to 1 monitor today for a bit instead of my Oculus. I really preferred it. I think I might put the 3 monitors back up and be done with the VR for a bit.

                              I want to like it.

I will say I just did a 10 lap hosted race at Road America with it and enjoyed myself. Was fun to have to manage the ERS, and as I was slowly pulling him in, just waiting for the green light to pop on that signaled DRS was available. Of course I threw the car off track about 30 seconds later, but we'll ignore that part. Wish I had remembered to record it.

We'll see how it goes once everybody has more time with it, but I can full length races being quite fun for people. Having to manage ERS every lap, plus fuel and tires (hopefully) during the entire race, as well as trying to get within one second of the car in front so you can use DRS.

Well I think I'll be taking my time once season 1 starts. My last 3 races haven't gone well. 2 eventful Talladega races and the damn computer spotter costing me this morning at Charlotte in street stock. I'm down to a 2.5 A, and I don't think I like it getting too much lower than that now that I have it. I swear, that spotter says clear way too quickly some times. I move up after hearing clear and then get hit in my rear quarter panel.
