    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Well that was fun for a Sunday morning. Qualified 2nd so I went with my strategy of staying up front. It worked for awhile and I could pass cars pretty readily so even when I fell back into the field, I got back up to the lead with pit strategy. And then two geniuses decided to stay out. They boxed in the field and we had a big wreck. I was stuck on the high side with nowhere to go. Too much damage, engine blew. Finished like 26th.

      iRacing after 2+ years

I ran the Saturday morning 5am EST race and still rather new to iracing so my 1550 irating put me in the bottom of 3 splits. The first 70 laps we never ran more than 4 consecutive under green. I qualified mid field but started from pits and avoided the turn 1 accident on lap 1. About 40 laps in I checked up for an accident and got turned from behind and got my right front into the wall with 5 minutes of repairs. Went 5 laps down but worked my way back to within a lap of the leader with 40 to go after some lucky dogs and wave arounds and found myself back in the top 7 and then right around then some duma** lapped car carried way too much speed out of turn 2 and got lose in the dogleg under caution and took 5 cars with him and that was another 8 or so minutes of repairs for me. Ended up 9th still but just a disappointing finish as that caution put me back on the lead lap with only 5 other cars. Pretty happy to make it to the end in a 15 or so caution race in just my second NiS attempt. Planning to run the fixed again tonight. I can't understand why Phoenix is so hard for people, my car never even felt that lose in the fixed race. But I also noticed that one of the 4000 irating races had 15+ cautions as well. I love racing here I just wish I got some more green flag time!

Just something about Phoenix makes people go crazy. Sounds like you guys both had bad breaks. Hopefully there are less cautions next week at California. I do well on the long green flag runs so I obviously want it that way.

Yea, we had an early run of a good 20-25 laps and although I lost ground to one guy, I was putting distance one everyone else. The top 4, we were in another zip code and the car felt great. Just never got long enough runs after that and started getting caught up in things.

Man, I need to jump back into this over the next few weeks. I haven't raced since November! I can't wait to try the LDF package with the new build.

I feel really stupid. Never, ever, ever run Daytona unless absolutely necessary. That was terrible.

Personally hate the fact that iracing placed Daytona on the schedule for the off week. We just raced there five weeks ago. Not to mention, now you are looking at two weeks in a row of safety and irating nightmares between Daytona and then Martinsville. Why not do an Iowa, Chicagoland, Michigan, or any other track that will not be visited for a while?

                  Re: iRacing after 2+ years

What I'm more annoyed with is how every year the past few years, they did bonus credit sales in December and late March (found old posts on reddit, twitter, facebook mentioning them). So December came and went and I had to buy a bunch of tracks to get through the first part of the season. The bulk discount is nice, but still pretty expensive when you need 6 tracks. Well I planned it out that I could make it to now before I buy my next batch. I can still go a couple of weeks because I don't mind missing Martinsville and Bristol. Given all the problems the site had over the last couple of months after the last install, you'd think the last thing they'd want to do is not give any benefit to current customers.

I said all that to say I'm fine with it being Daytona because it's a track I do have at the moment. I'd have preferred something like Kentucky that they only go to once so I can get an early start on a setup and comparing to others. But without the credit sale, I'm holding off on buying it so doesn't really matter.

Got a win at Daytona in an Xfinity race last night. That was a real cluster. Started last just trying to stay out of the way. Got to 13th after 3 laps because half the field was taken out. I slowly worked my way up after that with a group and then some how 2nd place and the leader took each other out without a caution and I lucked into the lead. Held off the rest for two laps and won. Weird race. I've won a rookie, D, C, and now B race so maybe it won't be long before I can sneak an A win. The truck win at Michigan is the only one that has really felt legitimate as the rest were me dominating with a setup or just lucking into it.

iRacing confirmed today that they are bringing dirt track racing and "optimistic" it could be before the end of the year. In all honesty there are too many races already that don't go official, I think they would have to cut some other series out in order to populate the races more.

Ah sh!t is this a joke?

It is almost certainly an April Fool's joke, especially with the "DIRT CONFIRMED" title.

I think it is the best troll of all time. Where it looks like an April Fool's Joke but it is real and no one can figure which one that it is.

I have to believe it's a joke, largely due to the timing. The other thing that stuck out was the guy down on his hands and knees with a magnifying glass, then a syringe, and finally tasting the dirt. That has to be a joke.

On a more serious note, I think that dirt racing should be some sort of requirement in the lower classes to advance. It would help teach people how to handle their cars IMO.

The great part is that everything you said here made me think it's real.

In any event, Clint Bowyer seems to have confirmed it. Although I suppose he could be in on it.

Others suspect it looks like they put so much time into it and possibly scanned a track that although it is a "joke" now, it may be a reality down the line at some point.
