i actually had given up on Shift 2 due to the handling issues and went back to Forza 3 but that game just feels really bland and stale at this point (was awesome in it's prime though).. I just like the "edge" of Shift 2 and I really like the computer AI. It seems like the better car always wins in Forza whereas you actually have to compete in Shift 2.. maybe it's rubberband AI or something, but I like the pressure that you feel.. like you can't make a mistake. Good stuff. Shift 2 definitely has some issues as JMD pointed out, but it also has some really good things going for it that really seem to make it feel like a fresh new racing game, at least for me (i never played shift 1 though)..
great link...thanks a millions....cars are much easier to handle now. The lower ranked cars are still tough but i drove the Reventon with these settings I felt like i was hitting all my turns perfectly and pushing the car more and more each lap. I felt like the controls responded more like I am used to with other racing games.

I gave up on this, traded it in to Amazon. Such a terrible sequel thanks to the awful handling of the cars.

          Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

I thought my last post on this game would be my final one, but I've made a new discovery. My biggest issue with the game is the handling, so just for the heck of it, as I was about to hang it up, I decided to try the "steering assist" , to my surprise it seems to have solved my problem. No more "speed wobble" no more car jerking all over the place. I tried this late last night and only ran 4 races but it felt a lot better to me. I'm going to do more testing today.

NOTE: To try this you must lower the level to Novice, but you can still choose which other assists you want on or off.

question - is there no way to change the color of the wheels we buy? This is a real bummer for me. I've owned just about every NFS game before, and in the past we've always been able to change the color of the wheels. I don't like that we can't change it on this game. Or am I just overlooking something??

you have to buy nitrous for your car. it is not a thing thats already on your car when you purchase it

I am pressing b and it is working for me. Just keep your finger on the button and you will notice greater acceleration and speed and you will also notice the little tank at the bottom right start to emply.

Well after a full day of racing with the Steering assist ON this game has gone from fun but frustrating to fun and excellent. I can't believe a simple assist, that I would normally never use , has fixed this game for me.

I tried this last night and had my best races yet. it's usually a setting I would never even try, but this game needs all the help it can get. I actually had a little fun last night instead of constantly battling to keep a car on the track.. thanks for the heads up.

alright guys. Last week when I started playing this game, I got so mad at the game because I could not get the car to drive in a straight line to save my life.

So I went to this guide in the post quoted above, and made all of those changes, and low and behold, this game is fun as hell!! The ONLY difference I made was steering sensitivity at 15% instead of 5%. This is on PS3 with Logitech Driving Force GT. I played the game from about 9pm until 1 am this morning. I could not get enough. With these new settings, I was able to go into those hot lap gauntlets, and completely shred the lap times, even the hard times. The one with the orange porsche took me the longest, that track was ridiculously hard especially on the turns where the car went down to like 5mph. Anyways, I also turned on the steering assist, and this game is just extremely fun, an all around blast to play. I couldn't stop playing it. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who was about to give up on the game to try these settings. I am itching to get back home tonight and race.

I'm also having a lot of fun with this game so far. Playing on PC with a 360 controller, using the settings posted earlier with some small changes. I bumped the steering deadzone down to 3 and upped the steering sensitivity a little. All assists off with elite driving model, I would say it feels like a more chaotic Forza. Which is good to me because I thought Forza 3 was a little too forgiving and sterile.

I agree. I was playing fine and having a blast, but did have some frustration at times...then I put on the steering assist and not only am having a blast, but my frustrations have disappeared. I am really enjoying this game. Can't wait to get to GT1 and GT3. Just unlocked the Endurance series (have yet to try it out), but it looks like a blast!
