If they've got a run on you, don't dive down and try to block, unless you have plenty of time to do so, it's never going to end well for you.
That's said perfectly. If you try and block late your in trouble.

When I race NR2003 and iRacing I race with a serious face and I enjoy the sim aspects --
when I race on NTG I have a smile and have tons of fun! Go figure.

I hate loosing the lead if I've got it when at Daytona and Dega, I actually find the draft somewhat difficult to work in this game, as opposed to the previous one, but I learned awfully quick not to block... period really. Sometimes when I did get down in time I just got rammed so hard from behind it destroyed the rear of the car. Now I just try and be patient, and get those spots back when i can.

It's hard though, to see that line coming up from behind with so much speed to not try and block and make a big mess, because theyre all just going to fly right by you, and you'll have some serious work to do then. But, that's plate racin.

Just checking in to see this years edition and have been hearing a lot of the same issues from NTG 11. Do the AI cars after the patch still brake check you like crazy?? Do the AI cars magically gain momentum and dive in on you in the corners.?? and have they fixed the AI cars slamming on the brakes out on the track when making a pit stop. These issues seem to be the same as last game I hope to GOD we are not waiting another 8 months for a patch to come out to fix this game like the last one. Anybodies thoughts.

The brake checking is almost a non issue in this game. I have never seen cars magically gain momentum in the corners. The pit stops are greatly improved, but everyone has to brake on the track to make a stop, even in real life, but it is easy to tell when they are gonna pit because they will pull down to the inside on the backstretch when they are going in. The last thing I heard about the patch that it was about a month away, but they lied for months last year so who knows.

That is good news. I was really looking forward to this years game and heard a ton of negative reveiws. I was very disappointed with last years game became very unplayable and did not enjoy it at all. Hopefully the patch will fix the remaining issues. I will try and pick uop a copy soon.

Re: I have the NASCAR The Game: Inside the Line

Well I picked the game up on Friday morning. I started out by doing several races on different tracks to get the overall feel of the game and to see where I wanted to set the A.I. as far as difficulty level. I ran the races at 30% with fuel and tire wear at X2. I ended up turning the damage off because even the slightest bump while drafting was denting the heck out of the cars.

I then started my career. Daytona went off with no issues. There were 4 cautions all cause by the A.I. One was awesome, it happened a bit in front of me, all I could see was smoke but I manage to get through it untouched. Green flag pit stops were not an issue. I Started on the pole and dropped back to 25th because I got caught in the middle with no one to draft with. I made my way up front and on the final pit stop I came out in 10th. I managed to make my way to 3rd with 3 laps left. I got on the rear bumper of the 2 lead cars and managed to draft by them for the win about 5 feet before the finish line, it was incredible, I was on the edge of my seat racing.

Week two was a bit different. At Phoenix the only pitting issue I saw was during practice. The A.I. came on to the track before they were up to speed and another A.I. slammed into him. As for the race I started on the pole and again quickly fell back. The A.I. seem to have better acceleration then I do. This race was a 113 lapper with 3 pit stops, however there were 8 cautions , two caused by me being overly aggressive. I spent a good part of the race in a pack of 5 cars in 17th place. I managed to come out in 12th after the final caution pit stop. I worked my way up to 10th and that was the best I could do. I just couldn't hang with the lead 9 cars.

So far I'm really enjoying the game. If the patch the A.I. and make them a bit "Smarter", and ton down how easily the cars get damaged this game will be excellent.

I will also sat the in car view is excellent. When racing at Daytona in a pack of cars it was nail biting. I have a new respect for the guys that do this for a living. I was getting nervous just playing the game running that tight in a pack of cars at 190mph, I can't imagine how it feels in real life.

I like the little intro's each week during career mode. Adds a nice touch. I did have to turn the Boggity , boggity , boggity off though.

Also I haven't tried online yet.

You can leave damage on this year, you can bump draft without banging up the front of your car. The back will get banged up, but that's ok. If you get damage on your front while bump drafting then you are hitting them to hard. Also the damage will also be mechanical, so it will slow you down, but when you pit you can fix it and I think that adds to the game.

I made a couple Packers cars. I'm very happy with how the logo turned out, I'll post some pictures sometime soon. I'm getting more comfortable with the editor, gonna try to do something more advanced than the basic looks I have now...any ideas/suggestions?

I ran race 3 of my career yesterday. It was an 80 lapper at Vegas, great track. Again it was a very competitive and excellent race. I took cusefan's advise and turned the damage on to full. this made a big difference as my tires went away much quicker. After 15 to 20 laps the were looking bright red and my Crew Chief told me to come in for a new set if a wanted to stay in the race, very cool.

For most of the race I hung around at mid pack. Lots of bumper to bumper racing and I must say this game does close racing very very well. If you can hold your line the A.I. will be very good at not wrecking you. The spotter is also excellent at keeping me out of trouble.

With 20 laps to go there was a caution. I needed tires so I pitted as did the rest of the field. I came out in 4th. On the restart I dropped back to 11th. I need to learn how to tune my car because I'm getting killed on restarts. At least 8 to 10 cars just blow by me.

I managed to get myself into 1st place with 14 laps to go. By lap 8 I had a comfortable 2 second lead, then caution, darn. My tires were starting to wear but of course I stayed out, as did everyone else.

Restart , same story, 1st to 9th. made my way up to 4th with 2 to go and battled with Jimmy Johnson for 3rd but could not get by him. Finished 4th.

After 3 races I've finished 1st, 10th and 4th and lead the points by 5.

I'm diving the #53 car. I picked that number because I'll be 53 in January. UPS is my main sponsor. I've upgraded everything on my car one level.

I'm really loving this game. The realism impresses me, as does how great and intense the close quarters racing is.

Don't worry about upgrading everything, worry about your transmission first. I waited to upgrade until I could go all in with the transmission. That is what you need for restarts. Also in setups always practice and see which transmission type works best for you. I find that Type B transmission is usually faster, it is a lot better for restarts.

What I do is try both in practice. I run 2 laps with Type A and 2 laps with Type B. If you run the laps the same most of the time Type B will be faster, but I have had Type A be faster sometimes, but not much. That is about all you can do for restarts.
