If they are close to you they are like that, but you can race . You have to watch the inside, stay low, make them pass you on the outside. If you get low early into the corners they won't wreck you. If you drift up the track even a little they will get you. I know it sucks they wreck me all the time, but I have had some awesome races, even several caution free races.

Re: I have the NASCAR The Game: Inside the Line

Ok after two more races , I can say I've never had this much fun with a racing game before. I'm not seeing any of the pit stop issues yet. Even on Bristol green flag pit stops went off with out a problem.

I finished 12th at Bristol. A late caution happened and I only took right side tires, didn't need fuel and I came out in 3rd. I got spun a bit with 4 to go and lost a few positions and end up 12th. A great race though. I continue to be impressed with how well this game works when racing close quarters. As long as you are aware of the cars around you, and you can hold your line, the racing is fantastic.

Next was the Fontana Eliminator. Took first in that one.
I didn't fair so well in the Fontana race. Again I was 5th with 6 to go and I came down into the front of another car. My fault, I spun a little but was able to hold on to it. I dropped back a ton though. Finished 22nd.

The settings I'm using are giving me a great racing experience.

      Xbox 360
I'm using a controller/ May look in to getting a wheel at some point.
      Assists:
      Automatic transmission
      Steering 2 stars
      Braking off
      Traction Control 3 stars
      Spin control 3 stars
      ABS Full

I've got the A.I. on Medium
I'm doing the races at 30% / may kick it up to 50%
tire and fuel use is at x2
      Cautions and black flags.
Damage and failures - short tracks -OFF, longer tracks - Visual, tires, brakes and engine

I use the default car settings and will switch the grearing from A to B depending on my lap times during practice.

That's it, having a blast and experiencing some great racing. Other NASCAR games I've played it was either I'd get out front on the first lap and stay their for the entire race, or I would not even be able to compete. With this game I'm having very competitive races, and spending time in many different positions during the race.

Some are a little to tight or to loose, if it is just make some adjustments.
I havent tried the gearing change yet. But I've been banging my head against the wall using the default setups. I just cant get any speed through the corners. I've tried so many damn lines lol. Tried making alot of changes to set ups. I've used the Stewart set up, but its way too loose, so I tried to tighten it up, but with setups being messed up in the game, its difficult to accomplish anything there.

I'm just at a total loss for this track. I'm thinking that Im getting into the corners too fast, but when I let off earlier, the AI just blow by me, and they get off the turns crazy fast compared to me as well.

Appreciate the pointers, but I've tried alot of that, I just can't get that place figured out.

What really blows me away though is the handling difference, and difference in AI difficulty between a single race, and a career race at the track. Like I said, single player race... I fly around there. Career (even with car all upgraded) its like I'm driving a dump truck compared to the AI, while using all the same difficulty/assist settings. It's crazy, and its driving me crazy too.

I've gotten better there though... I ran my career race, after buring up 50 minutes in every practice session, I qualified 28th I think, and I finished the race 14th I believe, but I got lucky moving up about 7 positions because of a "spin" that slowed up the pack in front of me and let me blow by a group of cars with 2 laps to go. I'm still a long ways from where I need to be at Vegas though. Just that one damn track. lol And, I've got to say, the racing I had there was quite the challenge with how much Im struggling there, but it was a riot. A Frustrating riot, but still fun. lol

The only thing messed up is trackbar and wedge, stay away from those and you can adjust your setups. Also changing the gearing will make a difference getting off the corners. When you run a single race it is totally different then career. I'm glad it's harder on career.

Yeah...stay inside at Phoenix.. they were going 3 wide INSIDE the yellow line.. which of course isn't illegal there, and then coming up and wrecking me

There I just run inside the line in the turns. Even if they dive inside of you just let them go and stay away from them and you won't wreck. I know easier said then done, I wreck all the time trying to stay away from them.

The only thing I can suggest is trying the game with the A.I. on a easier setting. I ran a few races with them on Hard and got killed. I put them on medium and I'm having some great races.

Just can't find a happy median with this game. With the AI on medium I was getting tons of poles and regularly finishing in the top 10, but on hard I don't qualify as well and am getting pretty much destroyed in races. I can hang for the first couple laps but then my tires seem to go away super fast and my rear wheels start sliding all over the place and the AI cars start rocketing past me. Are the AI cars even affected by tire wear?
