Re: Picking up a Gamester Race Pac tonight.
Just wanted to post quickly and let you guys know that the Race Pac is awesome! Solid construction, adjustable to people of various heights, and we had no problem at all using it with CMR2005, TOCA2, NFSU2, MM3, and Indycar Racing 2005. I haven't tried it with my PS2 yet (it supports both) but once I do I'll let you know how it works with that. Another neat feature is that is has a memory card slot for Xbox, so you can plug in your headset for online gaming. And its pretty darn comfortable too.
Overall I'm very happy with it so far, in fact after seeing it my brother is going to get one. -

What's the turning radius? It looks pretty cool but I can't find a whole lot of info on it. If you could help me out, maybe give a review, that would be awesome.
The turning radius is fine, and in fact there are two little buttons that you can hit with your thumb to adjust the steering sensitivity on the fly, a great little feature in my opinion. There is also a "cruise control" type button that I can't really see myself using too much (maybe for some Indycar racing where the pedal is to the floor all the time). The wheel is all plastic, but looks and feels sturdy, and all of the buttons are labeled with their controller equivalents for both Xbox and PS2.
The whole thing is really well made, with a metal frame for the seat and alluminum shafts for the wheel and pedals. The pedals are a little light feeling, so I recommend using with your shoes off. Plus the whole things folds up easily into a surprisingly small shape, making transport a breeze.
Granted, I've only had it for a few days, but so far I think it will be the cat's pajamas for PS2 and Xbox racing fans. I plan on trying a variety of racing games tonight to see how compatable it is (particularly F355, LeMans, and F1 World Championship on PS2, since I've only tested Xbox games so far).
I didn't see it on the EB Games website, but if you ask at your local store they should be able to order one for you (we used to special order stuff when I worked at EB back in the day). The manager at my store said they had them on display at their last big EB managers meeting, so they should know what you are talking about.
Hope this helps, and I'll let you all know how the PS2 games worked.Comment

Originally posted by gurantsuThe damage was $99.99. I also got EB's hardware warranty for another $10 (just in case). It's certainly not cheap, but for what you get compared to other quality racing wheels, I think it's worth it. My brother went through countless cheap racing wheels and wasn't happy with any of them. He could have saved himself money had this wheel been out a year ago!

Originally posted by Mrcabonethank you, does the chair and or wheel have force feedback, and if so how strong is it?
Which brings me to the reason I logged in tonight. I tried the wheel with my PS2, and was not impressed. The reason is that the gas and brake pedals are not mapped to the right analog stick, but the x and square buttons. So you don't get true analog control from the pedals. You can activate the analog button, which will give you the pressure sensitive effect if the game supports it, but thats all. Needless to say, it makes some games darn near unplayable. Sprint Car, F1 Championship (the Studio Liverpool one), and NFS Hot Pursuit were OK, but F355, F1 Career Challenge, and LeMans were not. Unless there is a way to map the pedals to the analog stick, I would steer clear if you plan on using it for only the PS2.
Having said that, I tried it some more with my Xbox, and it ran like a champ. TOCA 2 seems made for this wheel. And I also tried the Forza Motorsport demo with it, and it also worked fine. It's a shame the PS2 function is limited, because the Xbox version is fantastic.Comment
