Re: Picking up a Gamester Race Pac tonight.
Originally posted by gurantsuThe wheel does have the vibrate function, but not true force feedback. The strength depends on the game. I did find the PS2 function to be weaker than when connected to the Xbox.
Which brings me to the reason I logged in tonight. I tried the wheel with my PS2, and was not impressed. The reason is that the gas and brake pedals are not mapped to the right analog stick, but the x and square buttons. So you don't get true analog control from the pedals. You can activate the analog button, which will give you the pressure sensitive effect if the game supports it, but thats all. Needless to say, it makes some games darn near unplayable. Sprint Car, F1 Championship (the Studio Liverpool one), and NFS Hot Pursuit were OK, but F355, F1 Career Challenge, and LeMans were not. Unless there is a way to map the pedals to the analog stick, I would steer clear if you plan on using it for only the PS2.
Having said that, I tried it some more with my Xbox, and it ran like a champ. TOCA 2 seems made for this wheel. And I also tried the Forza Motorsport demo with it, and it also worked fine. It's a shame the PS2 function is limited, because the Xbox version is fantastic.Comment

Originally posted by laforr77Good to hear that the Xbox version works well, since thats the only system I have. But how far does the wheel turn from lock to lock? Most of the Logitech wheels only turn 180 (from 90 to 90), and I have a MadCatz MC2 that turns 270 (from 135 to 135). So how far does this wheel turn? Also, does changing the sensitivity also change the deadzone? Is the deadzone big? Thanks for any answers you can give. Hopefully I can get a good Xbox wheel in time for Forza.
The wheel turns about 160 - 170 degrees in either direction, so you have almost a complete 360 degrees of movement. The wheel centers well, and the dead zone does change a bit when sensitivity is adjusted. On the tighter setting it's small but manageable.Comment

Originally posted by laforr77Thanks a lot for your help!! I really appreciate it. I'm just glad that it is bigger than 180. Man, I can't wait to get one.
One downfall for NFSU2 fans out there is that the game won't let you map the levers properly for the gear shifts, so you either have to use the buttons or go automatic. It will map one OK, but you just can't get the second one because they only give you 4 configs. (Forza on the other hand lets you map each button individually.)Comment

I hope a few more guys get them so I can see what others think of it. You should also get the demo of Forza while you're at it so you can become a permanent part of your TV!Comment

Originally posted by gurantsuJust check with your local EB, the company is stocking them so if they don't have it on the shelf they should be able to order one for you.
