    Re: iRacing after 9+ years

Nick, saw you ran the WoO qualifer tonight. Good job on a good finish. I was running about 8th after racing in and winning the B main when I got punted. Had a 17th finish and I'm licking my wounds.

Thanks, that was one of the hardest tracks I have had to race in iRacing, just trying to survive mid pack and run the high side without eating the wall.

I chickened out on using a setup i worked on before the race, which my brother used and ended up getting a heat win and 2nd in my A main

Hopefully they get this cushion sorted out to open up a few more options, at least the risk factor is there with it.

Have to say trying to make the race out of 30+ people is really fun though, brings a whole new side to iRacing, having the chance to be eliminated.

Haha, that's funny about the setup. I heard someone who was really fast used the default so I ran it and I did pretty well with it. Yeah, the cushion on that track was insane. Like I said I had bad knowledge and thought the winner of the B Main was the only one who advanced. So I was pushing hard on the cushion in the B Main in order to win it. Won by 4+ seconds but it was an unnecessary risk.

The adrenaline of trying to race into the A Main was awesome. The only thing is that I wish is that the C Main and B Main worked as they do in real life instead of being parallel consolations. Anyways, I'll be excited for the race next week even though Williams Grove is my least favorite track out of all the dirt tracks.

I wish all dirt racing could be that exciting where you have to race into the A Main instead of the way it is now where only one person really gets eliminated. They need to do something about the splits. I say if it is <48 cars then run C and B Mains and don't split it, but I doubt they will change anything because they haven't even implemented heat racing into league racing. Why would they step out and try something new with the official series?

Just renewed my subscription after who knows how long I've been out of the game. Hoping to get some racing in this week.

Awesome! What car are you looking to run?

Since we are reviving this thread. I have been running in a league on Monday nights that cycles through all the dirt cars except the 360 and 410 winged sprint cars. They follow the iRacing season and we do 2 races every Monday. You get 4 drop races so only your top 20 count.

Well we had a good season, I missed a couple of races early so I was climbing to finish higher in the standings at the end of the season and ended up finishing 4th by a margin of 3 points (1,062 to 1059 points).

It was pretty fun, I didn't have any wins. I had a couple of 2nds and a couple of 3rds. I think once the cushion gets fixed and you can run multiple lines to be competitive when the whole track slicks off I think I will be in the running for some more wins. This was the first full season of any league or official iRacing season that I have finished. It felt pretty good to see all the hard work accumulated over the season. Also we had some great racing.

I honestly don't have any idea. Last time I was active was right when dirt was announced. I gave one practice lap in with the rookie Beetle and never spun, but I did slide a bit too much for my taste. I'll honestly probably give those rookie dirt tracks a go because it seems like a lot of fun. I never really played to progress up super high, I think I never passed C class in oval. I had way too much fun just racing in rookie and D oval races where I'd get first tier(or whatever they call the splits) races that were typically clean and competitive and not the mess rookie can become.

Your league sounds like a ton of fun. If I were able to field a nice schedule that'd allow something like that I'd love to look into a league, but right now I'm all over the place.

Yeah that was my issue when I was in the military. However, now that I have my DD214 it's awesome to be able to square off a couple of hours every Monday to do my league.

If you have any questions about what kind of racing to do hit me up. I've done mostly everything, rallycross probably the least.

If you have any inkling to road series, the skip barber series is great. You can probably find good races at your skill level since so many people enter the races and also they race every hour.

Did my first race tonight. Decided to go with something I was used to to get back into the groove of things. Rookie Mazda..... I was in a wreck before the first turn of the race... We'll try again I guess, haha.

I am looking forward to the addition of AI. As much as I enjoy racing online, I have more fun offline rewriting history in NR2003. I hope with AI we can apply custom paint schemes and driver ratings, and I’m really looking forward to be able to have a ISMA offline series, as I have been becoming a fan of road racing series, as NASCAR has become a joke.
