I thought $12 million for a car was bad, then the McLaren F1 shows up. Just like real life, even a video game is pricing cars out of reach for "normal" people. It's pretty sad, to be honest. I know they used the excuse that they want rare cars to stay rare, but when the game stresses the collection component and wants the user to dote on all different kinds of cars, it's pretty obscene that this is how they price the catalogue. Even for rare cars.

They also claim they don't want people to run the same races over and over, but how else are you supposed to earn enough credits for a collection of decent cars? That's literally all you can do. Instead of lowering the value of one or two races to make them lower and more in-line with a bunch of worse payouts, they should have raised the payouts of all the races to match the best couple. Then users aren't necessarily funneled into choosing the one most efficient option. They can mix up their races and still feel like they're getting good value for their time.

Believe it, we'd still have to grind plenty to build a collection, but at least it wouldn't look or feel nefarious with the MTX looming.

Are they going to stick with the sport mode races being BoP from now on as I prefer those to the races where tuning is allowed. It also saves on wasting credits as i don't have to go around tuning cars i don't care about.

Anyway for the manufactures race i went with Mitsubishi. From the rankings board looks like a lot of you guys went with Dodge.

I just saw this post on Reddit that pretty much sums the fundamental problem with the game

"Reminder @thegranturismo @kaz_yamauchi we play #GT7 to be able to experience these absolutely unattainable and beautiful cars. We HAVE to. We aren't billionaires. Why are you making the economics side of vintage racing part of the simulation? It's the exact opposite of car culture"

I prefer the BoP races as well personally. Although tuning a car is fun in his own right. I chose McLaren for the manufacturers test season. Really loving the car around deep forest. Can't wait to give it a go tonight. Since it's BoP it shouldn't matter a whole lot what you choose. The weight and HP are all equal. Probably more a matter of handling for each car. But considering they're all race cars in Gr3 and 4 I assume they all handle really well overall.

Btw...KingCole and I were able to get into a season race together twice last night. So if you guys are DR B like us and are on east time zone we could all possibly be in the same race together. A lot of fun last night in the nation's season races.

Did my first manufacturers race and ended up in 9th after starting in 15th. Probably could have started a bit higher but during qualifying I couldn't match the times I was hitting during practice. Not a win or the podium but I'll take the top half finish.

Gran Turismo 7 Review - A Legacy of Love on Display

I started doing some laps without TCS and with manual transmission yesterday. It had been a while since I had played a racing game so I had started playing GT7 with most assists on and I have been gradually turning them off over time.

It is extremely challenging in this game to keep the powerful rear wheel drive cars on the road without any TCS. Additionally, the differences between cars becomes more pronounced without the assists. But if you can smooth out your control inputs and do it, you are very obviously going to go faster.

It helps me to listen to how much fuss the car’s tires are making around corners to figure out where the limits of the car’s traction are. A little bit of squealing is fine, but if they start getting too loud that’s when I know to back off the controls, because that’s where the limits of the car’s grip are. I am very impressed by the game’s sound design here.

There are some cars I still have no handle on, anything as powerful or more powerful than the AMG cars I can’t keep on the road right now. But the slightly older RWD cars from 2005 and earlier which aren’t quite as beefy, I’m starting to wrangle them.

I was discussing RWD cars with an old Forza buddy yesterday. Said he had been struggling with RWD cars as well. He's on the pad and I'm on a wheel though but said he was starting to figure it out.

I didn't even realize at first that TCS was set to 3 at default. I was like damn everything feels sluggish off the corner then it hit me to check. Lol

I really like the way this game feels on the wheel. Forza never felt quite right with a wheel and I was always faster with a pad.

One question I have is. Is there a way to to remove engine upgrades to bring a car back down to a certain PP? I see where it allows you to remove bolt on stuff but that's it. In Forza you could remove any upgrade you made to fit a car into whatever max PI you were racing.

Haven't dipped my toes into the online arena yet but looking forward to it.

I think the only way you can remove engine upgrades is if you buy a new engine.

For you more skilled racers with a higher DR, are those races more strict and actually enforce going off track and collision penalties. Slumming it down in D rank I've watched numerous times as racers slam into other cars that go completely off track cutting corners with no penalty applied. Is this a rank issue or something they need to make adjustments to.

Edit: Apparently this jinxed me as I proceeded to get 3 penalties: one after being pushed off the track, another for someone hitting me as they were coming back on the track, and a third for forcing someone off the track despite the closest person to me being a half second ahead and on the inside as i was out wide after missing my break point.
