Nintendo is creating the shortage themselves to keep the demand high. It sucks, but it's the way it is.

And I've still never seen a Wii in the wild.

When I was up in NYC over the holidays, I saw several in the Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller Plaza. This was the day AFTER Christmas.

Actually that would have quite the opposite effect if that was true.

The magic of the Wii is this. People of all ages love it. Especially adults who aren't normally gamers. They go to a party , play Wii Sports or some minigames and find it supercool. The next day is when they want to buy it and if they try for a couple of days and it's sold out they give up because the feeling of the must buy has passed because they aren't hardcore about gaming. They won't scour stores in oerder to find it. At Xmas, it's in high demand because parents need to buy something for the kids and they figure the Wii is the best thing because they can enjoy it too. How do I know this? Because just about everyone of my friends are like this(mid 30's gamers) who only really want it as a Xmas present but first wanted like 9 months prior but are not going to go thru the effort of looking for one then.

If Nintendo created this shortage to hike demand then they have shot themselves in the foot because they have lost alot of potential buyers who can't be bothered to look for it very hard. It's just everyone wants one. It's also hard to find remotes at times. Do you think that Nintendo created that shortage as well so customers would crave some Wii remotes? They only hurt themselves if less people play because of remote shortages.

I just realized that I quoted myself previously, that's embarrasing.
