Nintendo knows what they're doing. They are purposely holding back inventory to cause a demand like this.

exactly. There is no way they are selling out faster than they can be made. No way.

True about the Nintendo strategy. It obviously works....
I was not planning on a wii, but came across 36 at my Target this week, so I took the bait. It's extremely addictive and unique.
If you're still looking, be patient. They will be hitting stores more frequently. Getting games and extra controllers has been challenging as more people are getting systems. I picked-up Tiger Woods 08 and The Bigs. They are both more fun than the 360 versions. Superior games? No, but much more involving.
Of the 36 units I saw unpacked at Noon Thursday, there were three left at opening Friday, and none at Noon Friday. They do fly, but do not pay clowns looking to make a profit on a system. There will soon be enough for everyone who wants one.

              Re: Official Wii Discussion

I got my Wii over the weekend, pretty cool but heres the problem.

Simple things like typing your Mii's name are extremely frustrating because the pointer is so jerky and sensitive.

I have tried screwing with the settings and the location of the sensor bar and it doesnt seem to help.

I have the Wii hooked up to a large wide screen, and it the console is set to widescreen. Still the pointer is jerky as hell.

              Any Suggestions?

(Edit- Sorry it's late, didn't notice you mentioned the location of sensor bar...can't think of why it's like that dude, sorry)

Where do you have your sensor bar mounted? Maybe it's not ideally placed and you are jumping in and out of range? Anyways, I have mine mounted right below my tv and it works pretty fine. I don't notice much in terms of the jerkiness you mention.

I get that when my Wii is hooked up on my big screen where I sit 10-12 ft away. I don't have that problem in the office where I sit 3-5 ft away. I've read that the wireless sensor bar has a better range, so I bought one the other day. We'll see how it does. I've never noticed a problem of any jerkiness of the wiimote during a game though, just in the menus like you are seeing.

Yeah, I am thinking it might be a distance problem.

I get the exact same thing when i'm playing on my big screen... definitely sounds like a range problem.

Any update on how the wireless sensor bar is working for you? If it makes a big difference I will definitely pick one up as well. Just an extra 1-2 ft of range would make a huge difference... then I could really sit back and relax when playing all of my games.

Dude, the wireless sensor bar gives you SEVERAL feet of extended range compared to the wired one.

The first floor of my home has an open design: I can play the Wii, which is mounted to the TV on one exterior wall of the house, with my back against the door leading out to the garage, which is on the other side of the living room AND the kitchen, with no problems whatsoever. Not sure how many feet that is, but it's at least 50.

I highly endorse the wireless sensor bar.

Of course, you could just make one yourself: any old LED light positioned around the TV will serve that purpose. Don't believe me? Just run the calibration program from the Wii menu, and you'll see that the blue power light on the wireless bar registers just as strongly on the Wii-Mote as the infrared lights within.
Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!

I just got it in last night, it definitely did seem to get better range. I didn't see the stuttering I would with the original sensor bar. The packaging says it is has a 25 ft range. The sensor is about an inch taller than the original also, maybe that's why it has a better reception. I think it is worth the $15.
