well I must have a speical connetion, because it doesn't take me long to download any of the demos I have downloaded already.

I would like to know what that is because I am having extremely long download times.

One more thing. I am seeing all of this discussion about updates. Before I could set up my PS3 for online gaming and such, it made me do a download.

Is that the only download that I need to do at this time?

I have cable too, No one knows what's causing slow times. Sully has a bigger download pipe than anyone I know, and his speeds are slow as hell.

I can do a gig on XBL in 10-20 minutes tops, depending on time. A 625 MB file on PSN is 2-4 hours for me.

Hopefully there is something that can be done to fix these long download times. At least add background downloading so I can play something while waiting.

Yeah, the big March update should fix that. Rodster gets quick download times as well. He doesn't use a router, I've tried that route as well, no router, and still horrible speeds.

FF is the first person I've read that has good speeds wirelessly though.

I mean I don't know if it;s because my router is only like 15 feet away from where I have my PS3 hooked up, maybe thats why it's good?

Mine is a room away. So maybe that has something to do with it.

What type of router do you have FF, if you don't mind me asking?

I get really good speeds... 5-10 minutes to download demos. I have cable, with a wireless router, but the PS3 is wired to the router.

If you're going wireless, I've heard different suggestions being open certain ports, put the PS3 in the DMZ, and/or change to a different channel... although I've seen several on these boards say they tried most of those and it didn't help.

Again, background downloading will help but if it really takes that long, what if you want to go play some online game or something. Either kill the download (hopefully to be resumed later) or have a horrible connection because of too much bandwidth.

Yeah, like I said, you're not alone. There are thousands of posts about it on the Playstation forums. Many on here have complained of slow times, but at the same time, here and on the Playstation forums, there are people who get great speeds. No one can explain it and have any real way to fix it.

Can you change your online ID name without creating a sub-account?

Can you play PS2 games online thru the PS3?(I hope that question made sense)
