I dont have high speed internet which apparently you need to download patches for games. does anyone know of any other way to download patches for ps3 games especially for NCAA 08 football. someone told me there is a memory card that plugs into a usb port on your computer that you can download the patch to. then you place the card in the ps3 to load the patch into the ps3. has anyone heard of such of thing and if someone has done this can you explain to me exactly how you do it and what equipment i need. when it comes to this stuff i am really at a loss, so all help will be very appreciated.

I really have no clue how divx will affect the PS3. I'm simply ignorant on the matter. What I DO want is to be able to do is download HD movies like the 360 has been doing for quite some time now. What's the hold up? They have been talking about doing this for a year now and still nothing.

Unlike MS, Sony is trying to support a physical format and digital distribution simultaneously. So, it's no surprise that a VOD service is a low priority right now.

In other news, the Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5 demos will be released for the PS3 on January 2, 2008. I guess it'll hit PSN that following Thursday, but will arrive first on the following blu-ray movie:

The latest studio to announce plans for its first Profile 1.1 Blu-ray title, Sony's 'Resident Evil: Extinction' is shaping up to be its most technologically advanced BD release yet.

As we've previously reported, the studio first alerted retailers that it was planning a January 2, 2008 Blu-ray release for the third film in 'Resident Evil' franchise late last month. Although Sony declined to release supplemental details at the time, full specs for the title are now in, and they seem sure to impress.

Among the Blu-ray exclusives planned for the disc are two Profile 1.1-enhanced features -- the "Under the Umbrella" video commentary (Sony's first true picture-in-picture track), and "Blu-Wizard 2.0," a newly-energized version of the studio's disc search content and organization interface, which will now "memorize" how you've watched content and store it for future access even after you eject the disc from the player.

Additional supplements shared with the standard-def DVD version of the film (which is debuting day-and-date with the Blu-ray) include an audio commentary with director Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt, four making-of featurettes, eleven deleted scenes, and two video game demos (for "Devil May Cry 4" and "Resident Evil 5").

Tech specs include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio (at 48kHz/24-bit).

As presstime, Sony had not yet announced full specs for the original 'Resident Evil' or the 'Resident Evil Trilogy,' which are both due on Blu-ray the same day as 'Extinction,' but Sony is listing the collection as a three-disc set, so we expect it to simply contain the three stand-alone editions of the trilogy (the second film in the seres -- 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' -- was first released on Blu-ray earlier this year). Needless to say, we'll keep you posted.

As previously announced, MSRP for the 'Extinction' Blu-ray is $39.98.

Then you should educate yourself!

Divx is probably the best format in terms of high video compression with amazingly sharp quality. You can get an entire 2 hr. movie down to about 600 MB's that will look great on most TV's. Obviously, the larger the file size the more crisp the picture.

If the PS3 supports direct play of Divx files, you can easily take most video's you "find" on the web and play them directly.

Keep trying and it'll work Dave. I went to the KMart next to West Town looking for a Wii and/or Assassin's Creed and they didn't have either. They have a surprisingly decent selection of HD DVD's and Bluray's though.

No. The person working the electronics section just scanned the copy with no questions.

I've heard there are mixed results on whether stores will accept printed copies though.
