Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

I've said it a couple times and going to say it again. Sony needs to introduce a premium online service. I for one don't mind paying for online as long as it's on the same level as XBL. I was at my cousins house Monday and he has a 360. The things Microsoft have done to XBL the last 2 years or so are just stunning.

Then again, my PS3 doesn't break every 3 months.

What would a premium PSN have that the current one doesn't? Just curious.

You can, but it is displayed improperly. The songs are categorized in no real order whatsoever and are titled like FF01 and stuff, it's really weird.

But to get to that part, when your iPod is detected, press Triangle and go to Display All. After that, you need to just find your music within the folders your iPod has, but like I said, it's really confusing. Needless to say, I actually renamed all of the songs myself. It took several hours per day for a few days.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

I dunno, I think the PSN is fine as it is. I'd still be happy to pay a fee but I can't think of any major things to improve on.

And a comment on the new 3.0 look...

I don't know what Sony was thinking. The XMB is award winning in it's original state and then they try and fancy it up with sparkles and (boring and intrusive after a minute) dynamic themes. It's like they just chaged things for the sake of it to say that they'd done something new.

And I know you can go back to the old theme but the sparkles thing seems like the main shell because in the old school theme, when you exit a game you still get the half a second loadout when you see the sparkless.

And I don't know about anyone else, but all of the what's new stuff, store quick links and bevelled friends list graphics have slowed down the navigation for me.

Oh and I liked the little ding sounds when loading a game too

Whoring the PSN Store icon everywhere! I really didn't mind having it at one place. I don't need to see it everywhere I go.

                  Totally agree w/ this.

I like the update. I really would like some better avatars though. Just silly that we have so little to choose from. And those suck !!

I agree the Avatars are very weak. But, I like my Carolina Blue Duck, I am the only one who uses it on my friend list.

nice! Adding some more has to be very easy to do. Be nice to use our own but people would abuse that for sure.

No thanks man, one of the reasons I chose the PS3 is the free online services. I get just about everything I need now from a free PSN. The only thing I'm really missing is a global in-game voice chat, but even there, I only have like 2 games that I'm missing the voice chat on. And the network is reliable enough the way it is for me. Little avatars is just fluff and not worth giving a free thing up for. Same thing with daily updates, I'd much rather wait for a Thursday update for all PSN items and keep the online service free. What else is there that the PSN is missing that is crucial?

Crucial being the keyword here, I agree. And it's free.

Yes, this is a feature that is greatly missing. I would love to see that and stuff like seeing what maps and modes a friend is playing in COD for example.

Another thing I would like to see:

                                <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/axW8fuMjvAk&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/axW8fuMjvAk&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Take this idea Sony and run with it. This concept work is freaking amazing.
