If you have a slim you can avoid this. Some older thick models have avoided it too. Not being connected to the internet has nothing to do with it apparently.

I dont think so. People are having problems playing offline games. I think its best just to lay off the gaming on the PS3 for awhile.

LOL, what a fantastic "solution" to the problem. I cant help but think Sony knew this was going to be an issue based on the fact that it mysteriously doesnt effect the slim models but with the collective bran power of the people they have working there they havent been able to find an actual solution. I get the feeling that there will never actually be a solution to this and it will drag on until late tomorrow night when the date will correct itself and everything will start working again.

FWIW: The PS2 back compat on my 60 GB appears to be working perfectly fine - I'm playing Xenosaga Ep. 1 right now. Certainly lends some credit to the "Leap year ****'d up the DRM" notion - obviously no PS2 game would have DRM measures on the PS3, which makes it pretty safe from this kind of problem.

Agreed. My 360 died last week, I still haven't gotten the coffin or even the label yet. I bought Heavy Rain out of boredom today and I didn't even get to play it. If I had gotten MLB 10 early like I planned I wouldn't have been able to play that either presumably. This is ridiculous.

Well, mine is a refurbished fatty that I just got a week ago, with warranty, so I should be able to just walk into Gamestop with it and exchange it for a new slim (and paying the difference, of course....)

I'll call and ask them if they have any slims in stock tomorrow morning, if this isn't fixed by then....
