They are all combined each time they release a firmware update. Say you find a launch PS3 in some store in the middle of Timbuktu. When you turn it on it will prompt you to download the latest firmware version which would be 2.42. You do not have to download each and every update to get it to 2.42.

That's true, but if you want to do anything online you don't have much of a choice. They are all combined each time they release a firmware update. Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Instead of always having these tiny updates constantly, just put them together and instead of going from 2.40 to 2.41 to 2.42 they could just jump to 2.45 and save everyone the hassle. Like rspencer said, you have to download each and every update as it becomes available because without the most recent update you cant play online so Im stuck either sitting through a process that, God forbid the power go out in the middle of it because it will brick my system, takes forever or I dont play online when they could streamline this junk a little better I would think. They are all combined each time they release a firmware update. Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I understand where everyone is coming from that we should just have larger updates throughout the year instead of 10+ in a year. The nice thing is that they are always implementing something or fixing an issue right away with these updates. I would prefer that than having to wait 5-6+ months for an update.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I never download updates via the PS3. I just download the update file from Playstation.com (normally a 100mb file), transfer it to a flash drive and upgrade the PS3 from it.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Missed your message, sorry I didn't reply sooner. You can still connect them once NCAA has started using the in-game XMB. I was just saying I always have to go to that setting screen on the XMB and re-connect my headset, it never works right from the beginning like I think it should. After I connect it I just close the XMB to get back in the game and I can talk and hear over the headset in dynasty.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I just dished out the money for an 80gb MGS4 PS3, plus the 2 year extended warranty.
I'm not even happy with my purchase. I can't find a ****ing place that sells the 40gb model. I wasted so much money.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Sell MGS4, you'll at least break even on the warranty, and then you're only $100 in the hole.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
How much was it Moses for the 80gb? $499?
Like EG said, if you don't want MGS4 sell it off. Did you check with Walmart, Best Buy, or Circuit City?Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I bought it at best buy. I'm selling MGS4 (I already have it) and a controller.Comment
