Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I tried to watch the Prince of Persia Review in HD from gametrailers on my PS3 and it said the video wasn't supported. Is that what you guys get when you try to watch a HD vid from gametrailers?
Atlanta Braves - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
The problem is that current drives won't be fast enough to scan through such a high capacity disc.400GB discs will work with current BR players.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Maybe not at once, but the important thing here is the storage space. Even a game like MLB The Show can now add I don't know how many more lines of commentary just because of this. Sure, the power of the console is what's important for everything that's going on at one time on screen, but this is the next best thing.
I hope they use this for a Blu-ray movie and absolutely maximize the hell out of it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Except that any games made on this in the immediate future would be extremely expensive.Maybe not at once, but the important thing here is the storage space. This is more of a technological accomplishment than something that may actually trickle down to consumers for something like videogames.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Those looking to get or exchange for a 160gb, I would ignore them. I would just upgrade the HDD.
The HDD seems to be louder than past models. For example, in sports game where data is constantly caching to the HDD, the PS3 will make a clicking noise.
Looks like Sony went with a low grade HDD for the 160gb.
It's semi-noticeable depending on the volume.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I have a Linksys router hooked to my computer, which is upstairs while my PS3 is downstairs, and I'm having a lot of problems with lag and slowdown on my games lately, even when I'm not playing online. Any ideas what might be causing this? It seems to happen more frequently on College Hoops 2K8 than any other game, but I see it on all of them. Also, I have my PS3 hooked to a 22" HD monitor with HDMI cables and my resolution is at 1080. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not but my brother doesn't have HD and his games play fine with no lag or slowdown whatsoever and he has the same router.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
most ps3 games are meant to be played at 720p. that could be ur problem. for example, MLB 08 THE SHOW is meant to be played at 720p. u can play it at 1080 but then it runs choppy as hell and even lags at certain parts. try playing at 720 and see if that helpsI have a Linksys router hooked to my computer, which is upstairs while my PS3 is downstairs, and I'm having a lot of problems with lag and slowdown on my games lately, even when I'm not playing online. Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Thanks. I was thinking that might have something to do with it but wasn't sure. I've only been playing in HD for a few months. I'll give it a try.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Hmm...I seem to be having my first real hardware issue with the PS3 - It's been shutting off completely within a few minutes of starting it up. All the lights go out - the red standby light included. Checked the wall outlet, surge protector, and tried a different outlet and power cord - same thing. I'm guessing it's probably overheating based on what I've read about the system shutting off automatically under too much heat, but I keep it well ventilated and I've never had a problem like that. I do, however, have it on a lot of the time because of Folding. Perhaps it's time to cut back on that for a bit.
After leaving it unplugged for about an hour or so, it hasn't shut off for a half hour so far, and still ticking. So it does appear that overheating was the problem. Ah well, I guess they can keep looking for "The cure" without me for awhile.
I'll keep you guys posted as to whether or not it keeps happening.Last edited by bcruise; 12-09-2008, 07:20 PM.Comment
