PS3 Slim now decodes DTS-HD and True Dolby in bitstream!!!
In addition to what we already learnt from Sony's media conference earlier in the week – which focused on the physical size of the unit, the increased 120GB hard drive capacity and other features such as the fact that the PS3 Slim supports BraviaLink – the latest tech news out of Japan indicates that the PS3 Slim will bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio direct to your receiver.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 08-21-2009, 10:41 AM.Comment

While no big deal for me since my receiver decodes both, it might be beneficial for those that do not have receivers to decode lossless audio. It looks like they did upgrade the HDMI to 1.3.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Okay so I'm about to back up all of my PS3 info on my HDD. I'm aware it needs to be formatted to FAT32. Is there any way to know whether it's already formatted as such? Because I don't want to format it now and lose everything on my external (if that would happen).
Thanks to anyone who knows.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

No, the external HDD for backing up my files.
Because I used my external for more than just my PS3, so if I have to format that (according to a YouTube video) I just don't want anything on that removed.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yeah, if you are running Windows (XP, I assume Vista's similar but can't say with certainty), just click on the drive letter of the external HDD in My Computer. On the left side, it should tell you what the file system is. Otherwise, you can also right click on the drive letter and then select properties.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Formatting will remove everything on the drive btw. So if you have a 320gb external and its got a 320gb NTFS partition with 260gb free. Your gonna need a utility to take some free space and make a second partition and then format that to FAT32.Last edited by e0820; 09-09-2009, 06:46 PM.Comment
